I bought one of these myself and liked it so much I bought another two as a gift.These are great even if you use candles sparingly. It makes the candles last longer and keeps smoke from occurring.Before lighting a candle, make sure the wick is trimmed. I cut my to an 1/8 of an inch and have no issues. This will cut down on melting the wax unevenly.After you're finished, take the dipper and push the wick into the wax. This will instantly snuff the flame as well as coat the wick for the next burn. No smoke will billow out of the candle and the wax will dry evenly.Doing both of the above, trimming and dipping, will significantly help improve the life of your candle and make it more enjoyable.This set allows for that and looks good doing so! Highly recommended.

I had some doubts about spending money on this set, but a trimmed wick really does make all the difference between a sweet smelling candle and a sooty mess. And when a candle has burned past a certain point, using regular scissors is just not an option.Likewise, it helps to put out a candle with a wick dipper if you're like me and you hate the acrid smell produced when you blow out a candle and the discoloration that happens when you smother it. You could use some other instrument as a wick dipper (I was using a wooden food skewer for a while) but the shape of this really does help in retrieving the wick after it's extinguished.These are well made, attractive, and useful.

First off, I'm an adult male so I'm even surprised myself that I'm writing a review on anything to do with candles. ;-) I just recently started buying candles to help alleviate the odor that comes with owning a pet. I've had candles once or twice before, and always seem to have the "tunneling" problem (which is where a hole burns down the center of the candle, leaving a lot of the wax still on the sides of the jar). So I decided to read up on the problem to prevent it with my new candles. This set will do exactly that. You're supposed to trim your wick down to 1/8 of an inch before lighting it every single time. The scissors trim the wick nicely, and also catch the little piece that's trimmed off. Next you're not supposed to burn your candles for longer than 4 hours at a time. You then let them sit for at least 2 hours again before trimming the wick and relighting. This prevents the tunneling problem. Now the other little utensil is something I've never seen, and never thought I would need, but it's actually pretty handy. It's just a little metal utensil that you use to push the wick down into the liquid wax to extinguish the flame when you're done. This also prevents the cloud of smoke you get when extinguishing a candle by blowing it out. So this set is definitely an excellent purchase and I would highly recommended it. (yes, even for us guys).

Probably the only candle/s that I ever have lighted might be those on a birthday cake. But different story with my wife. She burns candles a lot. And she praises this wick trimmer and dipper practically every time she lights and extinguishes a candle. I don't pay a lot of attention, but for some reason she is thrilled with the fact that, "there's no smoke". She was so sure that she'd like this kit that she had me order two of them, one as a gift. Now she and her lady friend are in "seventh heaven". My thinking is that if you like to burn candles, you will be very pleased with having one of these kits. For about fifty years my wife lived without one of these things, and I had never heard of them, but I think that now that she has one of these kits, she looks for reasons to light more candles.

I love this thing! I know I know it is a splurge,but it has been a life changer for me and my candles! This is so handy and useful. I love it! Quality is great and it is very cute too! I just wish it was a little cheaper or for that price they could have included the bell. Needless to say I love it and love using both the cutter and the extinguisher stick. This will also make a great gift for any candle lover.

I came across this kit while I was looking for something else and was intrigued with it. We often enjoy jar candles and found it difficult if not impossible to trim the wicks to prevent excessive smoking and extend the life of the candles. so I thought the trimmer would be very useful. I wasn't so sure about the dipper but we have found it to be very useful as well. The dipper extinguishes the flame without any smoke. It had always been our practice to blow out the flame or put the lid on the jar to extinguish the flame which worked but the former caused smoke and odor and the latter caused discoloration on the lid and remaining candle. The dipper eliminates these issues quickly and easily. We have really enjoyed these two items and plan on purchasing them as gifts for others. They are very well made and have a nice feel to them. They are quite attractive as well. We are very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this set to others. The vendor was excellent as well.

Very nice set! The tools have a slightly heavy feel--they don't feel "cheap" or like something that will break easily. The wick trimmer's blades are nice and sharp and cut wicks easily. Both pieces also have pretty scrollwork designs on them, making them feel surprisingly elegant. And, if you've never used a wick trimmer and wick dipper before for your candles (which, I never had before buying this set), I can tell you that this little change makes a huge difference in how your candles burn! No more soot on the insides of your candle glass, no more wildly flickering flames, no more smoke all over your room ruining the fragrance of your scented candles! This is a great purchase for anyone who enjoys lighting candles on a regular basis. I use it for all of my (many...) scented candles as well as to trim the wicks on my shabbat candles every week. I recommend this 100% to anyone who loves candles.

Wick trimmer doesn't even close and the wick dipper is from a completely different set!!!
