Good product - Excellent Customer Support
Really Good Product:First off I love the case. It is so great to drive up to a section of stream and have rod's ready to go. To pop out of the truck, not have to untangle and assemble gear and just fish. Great convenience when working small exposed areas of a long stream down a dirt road as can throw rods case, drive down road, pull them out and get to fishing. Underestimated how much easier that makes things.I would recommend having some rod socks to put over your rods just to make sure you don't damage the rod tip while putting them in and out of the case. Also saves you from hassle of chassing down a rod tip at the every end of a tube if rod tip comes off during transit.I store my 4 rods in the 4 banger and hang it from ceiling of my garage using a bike hoist. Makes it kind of grab an go as I can lower the unit right down on to my truck, attach it to rack, and go.Minor Hiccup - Fixed by Excellent Customer Support:When I received the unit I got the manual and it says to write down the key number. When I looked at key, found it was the dreaded CH751 key. The key that is used for every RV cabinet and aftermarket car gas cap etc. I realize locks on any plastic case is just a deterrent and not a guarantee of security but I was hoping for a little more security than having everyone in RV part having a key to my case.I dropped an email to RiverSmith that evening about the key issue. I received a phone call the very next morning from a nice gentleman from RiverSmith. He said they had researched the key issue of the CH751 keys, said they was pulling them from use for future units as they shouldn't have been in their inventory and offered me a choice of other locks and keys. That day they quickly shipped me out a new lock and key which was easy to install on my unit. Took me a few minutes to install the new lock and am now a happy camper.Honestly one of the best customer service experiences I have had. There are some benefits from buying a product made by a honest to goodness U.S. Small Business as they still care about their customers and stand by their products. To me that is important..

Essential tackle for hard core fly fishermen
I bought the River Quiver ahead of a 2 week fishing road trip. I covered 2000 miles, about 500 on gravel, and fished 27 different streams and lakes. There is no doubt I stopped in more places and had more fishing time because I had 4 rods always rigged up for whatever fishing situation I came across. Since then, I find I fish after work or stop on trips more often to fish. How many streams have you crossed for years and always wondered if there were fish down there? I stop now and check. The River Quiver is a high quality product, rock solid. I never once had to tighten anything in all my bone jarring miles. Wind noise was negligible, but there was a slight whistle between 35 and 50 mph. Others raised questions about heat. I left rods in my River Quiver all summer 24/7, including (probably foolishly) a 70 year old bamboo rod. I just thoroughly examined the finishes and they all look fine including the varnish on the bamboo rod. There are slight rub marks, that could be polished out, on the top of the guide wraps of the tip sections. There is a slight indentation in the cork handle of my bamboo rod where it rested on the lip of the inside plastic sleeve. The cork on the other newer rods are unblemished. I think I will sand the plastic lips a little. There is also enough air circulation that rods dry out after some driving.Security was a concern of mine, both rods and the River Quiver itself. Don't worry about the River Quiver, it has 8 hex bolts which secure it to the roof rack and they are difficult to remove. Don't plan on putting it on and off for trips, it takes 20 minutes to remove and 30 minutes to put back on. I enjoyed having it on my car all summer, but to others this could be a significant inconvenience. The one low quality piece is the lock. It probably secures the rods as well as you can in a plastic box, but the mechanism is not smooth and I found myself having to jiggle the key around to get the lock to turn. When I bought this I considered it a luxury item, but now I think it is essential tackle. No one is going to buy this who has not spend the same amount or more on a fly rod. I always ask myself two questions when I buy tackle: will I catch more fish? Will this make my fishing more enjoyable? Yes, on both points. I caught more fish this summer than ever before, because I stopped more to fish and I had more fishing time with my rods already rigged up. It just brings a smile to my face every time I pull a rod out to catch a hatch I just drove by or when I can just slide it back in and go home. I have not seen as large an impact on my fishing enjoyment from any other piece of tackle.

Great product
I've been wanting one of these for years. I snapped two fly rods inside my 4Runner on one hot day this summer so I decided to pony up the money to get the 4-Banger so it won't happen again. So glad I did. Installation took about an hour. It would have been less had I purchased the ratchet offered by RiverSmith. (Do yourself a HUGE favor and buy the ratchet).I mounted this to my 4Runner which has after-market cross bars. The 4-Banger sat on top solidly for a 5,000 mile road trip out west to Yellowstone and back East at highway speeds. No rocking, bouncing, or wind noise. The 4-Banger was indispensable on our trip. We fished 10 days running all over the park. It was so nice to have the rods already rigged up and ready to go each time we stopped - a tremendous time saver which resulted in more fishing time. I should have bought this years ago.I highly recommend this product. It's well made and I'm very pleased with the workmanship and durability after the long trip. (Did I mention you should get the ratchet to ease installation?). Given the workmanship this should hold up for years and years. My sons will probably fight over it after I'm gone.

It's heavier than you may have expected
Very durable and well built. It's easy for one person to assemble, but best to have help for installing it on to your roof rack. Fits perfectly on the roof of my truck topper (7' bed).

Great quality
The quality of this fishing rod holder is great. We feel so much better having our rods in this case for safety and ease of use.

I’m fishing more often.
It’s a great product but be careful with a swing door rod vault. I didn’t know/read about the warning from others and learned the hard way by losing 2 rods on the highway. Be sure to add a strap/bungee that goes across and behind reel seat and reel to prevent any loss if you forget to shut the door. Very expensive lesson.
