Yes, I'm Hot in This: The Hilarious Truth about Life in a Hijab

Hilarious, sweet and vulnerable
I've been following Huda on IG for over a year and I've enjoyed her comics immensely so much so I bought her book as soon as the presale opened!I got my book this morning (mis-delivery issue but I finally got it in my hands), sat down to just read the first few pages and ended up reading the entire book. Her story telling is incredible and I'm always amazed by people who can say so much while being so succinct and there is so much power in the little bite sized stories she shares with us that, together, bring a broader perspective of her life as an American Muslim woman. I found myself laughing out loud at so many of the pages, I felt pangs in my heart at others and even teared up a bit when she was talking about her hopes. Her illustrations add so much depth to the messages, from the lil glimmers in Gehad's eyes when he gets excited about things and subtle facial expressions she draws when people are being... ugh... people. Huda is hilarious. period. Her sharing glimmers of her life is an absolute gift and while she is hilarious, she's also very vulnerable in what she has chosen to share and how the things that happen to her, affect her. And humor is disarming, it allows people to get into places within themselves they may not be able to if they were just reading straight up information and this book does that just exquisitely...delivers laughs and then dishes truth of experience. There is a definite flow to a broader story in this book than you cannot get in the smaller comics online, which really adds to the entire message.I think this book is terrific for EVERYONE. Adults need it so they can open their hearts to be a little/lot less close minded and for kids, while some of the stuff would fly over their heads, I think the way she delivers many of her important messages is simple enough, seeds of understanding and acceptance would be planted in even smaller children.I highly recommend this book. I'll be buying it for my sister for xmas!

Hilarious, relatable, and validating
This book was the hottest item in the house for weeks! My 9 year old read it cover-to-cover as soon as we got it and then my seven year old and then *finally* I got a turn (although they kept coming up to show me their favorite pages so I’d already read half of it anyways!). We laughed out loud over and over and it was frequently requested as bedtime reading. Huda’s humor helped make tough topics easier to discuss and gave voice and validation to our experiences as Muslims in the US. I saw my daughters’ eyes light up and their increased confidence as young Muslims and budding hijabis. There are a few pages I kind of glossed over (“blueberry lollipop” page, for example LOL) but I’m sure they’ll serve their purpose when we’re ready to have “the talk” or discuss other topics they weren’t quite ready to fully understand just yet. Love love love this book and so proud of Huda and impressed how she can take things in stride and process her experiences into relatable, warm humor.

Awesome book! My favorite new author!
ال حمد اللهI just happened to stumble unto this book while browsing Amazon's endless content of books, and I'm so grateful to have done so. As a hijabi Muslimahs we can definitely relate to this book, and my daughter and I found it hilarious! Some parts are funnier than others, but that's probably because we've become accustomed to some of the stereotypes, misinformed comments, and assumptions the 'less informed' make or associate Muslimahs with. We liked this book so much we've purchased all Huda's other books on Amazon to date, and we've even gifted 'Yes, I'm hot in this' as a Ramadan gift to her friend.Alhamdulillah. May Allah bless this habibty in her efforts to entertain us with her witty humor. Laughing is also medicinal, and it's okay to laugh at oneself, and others too, but in goodness in'shaa Allah. I'm looking forward to more from this author إن شاء الله.If you want a good laugh and clean humor buy this book. I don't believe you'll regret buying from Huda Fahmy.

An amazing read that offers humorous insight into the daily struggle
This book was well illustrated and offered some valuable insights into the daily struggles people who wear a hijab go through on a daily basis. Numerous times a day running into uneducated and often people who do not want to be properly educated or learn for themselves the proper way to talk to another person, that means them no harm by the way.Entertaining, funny, yet sad that we do not treat our fellow human beings better and ostracize them for dressing in a different fashion that is outside of their normal "dress code".Thank you for the insight into the issues you face on a daily basis. I know it is a multiple occurrence issue every single day. I would be happy to call you a friend.Inshallah!
