outstanding book for getting a great overview of World War 11. I have used it to help educate my grandson (12 years old) about the war.

I am extremely interested in the Second World war and this contains so much information. I like the layout, the photographs and it is a very interesting read.

I bought this book partly for the collection of pictures but also just to have as a handy reference book. My first observation would be the fact it's printed on shiny paper. Were it just a book of photographs that would be completely fine but for reading pages of text this may not be everyone's cup of tea hence the reason I point it out. My main issue with the book though was with the factual inaccuracies. After reading just a couple of pages I could tell the author was not really an expert on the topic. Reading this book will give the casual reader a general overview over the events but at the same time they are likely to pick up myths and misconceptions. If someone wants a book on World War 2 that gives a decent overview illustrated by pictures and photographs then my advice would be to buy the Dorling Kindersley visual guide instead.
