Rhythmic Illusions: Book & Online Audio

This is a fantastic book. It will have you looking at old rhythms in a completely new way. It also contains some transcriptions of Gavins tasty odd meter grooves (ghost notes included!). You wont find anything in this book too physically demanding but it will certainly be a mind melting journey. Big brain time!I would recommend this book to anyone of intermediate skill or above.. basic reading ability and understanding of odd meters will make it much more enjoyable.Even if you don't apply these concepts to your drumming directly, working through them will greatly enhance your perception of time by exploring all the different placements of rhythm within a measure.

Amazing book with endless possibilities. Once you dive in you’ll never think of backbeats in the same way. You’ll be modulating every other thing you play on the kit. Seriously invaluable knowledge in this book..get it!

i love gavin harrison. if you are wanting to stretch yourself musically and you want to be challenged too, get this book. gavin is an amazing drummer and he shares his knowledge and rhythmic insights with the drum community with this book and many of his other publications. p.s. it helps to have some basic note reading skills for this book.

This book is well organized, clearly written and full of all kinds of mind-blowing stuff that will keep me entertained for a while. It also gives the best explanation of modulation that I have seen. The demo CD contains about all the examples played out along with some "musical considerations" so you get to hear how this crazy stuff can be applied.

Great book to keep a intermediate level drummer and above occupied for a good time.

The concept of Rhythmic Illusions is an interesting one which will be a challenge to the more advanced drummer.The book comes with a CD which makes the concept easier to understand.Not for the faint hearted but for those who are committed & determined the content of this book can only improve your playing of the drum set.

Dieses Buch richtet sich an den fortgeschrittenen Schlagzeuger, es ist jedoch nichts unnötig kompliziert. Alles ist systematisch in Noten aufgeschrieben, sehr genau erklärt und die beiliegende CD erleichtert das Ganze erheblich. Es geht hier um verschiedene Ebenen des rhythmischen empfindens und wie man Rhythmen überlagern und/oder verschieben kann. Ewas, was ich so noch in keinem Buch über das Schlagzeugspiel gesehen habe.Das Buich ist "mathematisch" (jedes professionelle Musikinstrument hat diesen Teil) und manche Übungen sind recht anspruchsvoll, aber das alles ist der Musik 100% dienlich, sehr aufschlussreich und der Leser kann sein Spiel erheblich erweitern, interessanter gestalten und sich von alten Klischees befreien. Viele Übungen sind Schlüssel zum tieferen Verständnis von rhythmischem Gefühl. Es wird auch genau unterschieden zischen dem was man von den Noten abspielt und was man empfindet (in vielen Übungen kann man verschiedene Dinge empfinden und, wenn man es beherrscht, hin-und herspringen, was hochinteressant und musikalisch ist). Bereits im Vorwort von Gavin Harrison weiss man: das Buch ist erstklassig.

Ottimo per una cultura generale sui groove. Ben spiegato, passo dopo passo ti porta a suonare e ad aumentare la coordinazione i maniera sensazionale. Dando altresì notevoli spunti per tanti session groove.

che dire...ha si il pacco è arrivato in perfette condizioni e in tempo poi sul prodotto...è un libro di gavin harrison non penso ci sia molto da aggiungiungere quindi compratelo!
