This is THE book of Toucans
I fell in love with Toucans 45 years ago when I started eating Fruit Loops. But it wasn't until decades later that I came to fully appreciate these gentle, heavily-beaked friends of the forest. Author Julie Guidone lets her love for these birds shine through in this brilliant, yet concise book. Did you think there was only one species of Toucan? Let Guidone gently teach you otherwise. She'll lead you from the gorgeous Keel Billed to the familiar Toco and back around through the less common Toucanets. Sadly, there isn't a color picture of my fav, the Saffron Toucanet. But we're talking a small paperback book here folks. It's an overview. Keep your expectations in line. This is top quality work from a master in her field.BTW, if you like "Toucans and Other Birds," you'll love the other rainforest-focused books Ms. Guidone wrote in 2009, including books on frogs (the gorgeous tree frogs of the real Amazon!), sloths, jaguars, snakes and monkeys. Guidone has her niche -- the rainforest -- and does not stray. Take advantage of someone who understands and appreciates the entire rainforest ecosystem, from the canopy to the jungle floor.I think these books would be good for children too. They are filled from beginning to end with pictures. I've tried to lend my copies of this Toucan book and the Jaguar book to the kids in the family that I watch a lot. The parents wouldn't accept them. I think they already have copies. Popular books these are!

Do not recommend.
This book is extremely thin. Only a couple of pages long. I wouldn't have paid over $ 8 for such a thin book. Do not recommend.
