Little Critter: The Fall Festival (My First I Can Read)

Unlike the Snowball Soup Little Critter book, which was printed in China, the Fall Festival book was printed in the USA.

This book has a lot of sight words in it, which are great for early readers. My son, who is just barely 4 has memorized about 50 sight words, and so this book and others like it help him feel like he's reading. There are plenty of words to sound out too, so your child will be able to work on this book for a while.

My kids love the Mercer Mayer series. In this book, there is a part of the story that my kids heartily laughed out loud. It’s a cute story about Fall season activities. It’s also easy to read for my 3 and 4 year old with a little help on the bigger words.

I read the book with my preschool class (2 and 4 years old). They love it special the little mouse and little spider. Perfect book for Fall theme!!!

I bought this book to replace one that we were told my daughter lost. After I purchased it and sent it in, they "found" the one that had been lost. No complaint, though, since we love Mercer Mayer stories! My kids love reading these books!

Mercer Mayer's Little Critter, like Clifford the Big Red Dog, Curious George and Berenstain Bears, are all staples of children's young reading. I was always partial to Little Critter because that is what my parents would read to me as a child growing up. All 4 series have a timeless quality about them. The Fall Festival is basically Little Critter and his family visiting the pumpkin patch. The story is a fun little tale of all the things you can do in autumn season down on the farm. Drinking apple cider, picking apples in an orchard, picking a pumpkin in the pumpkin patch and pumpkin launching, I think all of us have some Little Critter in us when we were children curious and adventuresome. The colorful pictures easily tell the story with short sentences and text to keep your child's attention on the story. It is a harmless little tale wonderful for the whole family. I would rate this a 4 star children's book I read it to my daughter often.
