Value Combat Knife Repro
This is a real cool 440 stainless repro of a German Army knife. It is one-piece and the handle is removable for oiling. Comes with a nice sheath. It feels good in the hand. it really hits a price point. Try one.

A surprisingly nice nice replica of the German Army KM 2000
I own an authentic KM 2000 and bought this Chinese replica to practice sharpening on before I attempted it on my more expensive knife. All I really wanted was a knife that was the same shape, so I wasn't too concerned with the quality. However, when it arrived, I was surprised to find that this is actually a pretty nice knife and a very good copy. The original KM 2000 is a knife made by two German companies: Original Eickhorn Solingen and Waffentechnik, Borkott & Eickhorn (a breakaway company from OES). The OES version of this knife is labeled the "KM2000 BW" ("BW," standing for "Bundeswehr:" the German Armed Forces), while the Waffentechnik version is called the "KM2K." This replica more closely resembles the KM2K, but apart from a couple aesthetic differences, they are the same knife.Mil-Tec did a very good job making a convincing replica of the original German Army knife. It looks like their engineers used actual specs and manufacturing processes vs. just eyeballing it and using cheaper materials like a lot of other clones, such as KA-BAR replicas. The knife looks exactly the same except for brand stamping: same shape, same number of serrations, and identical handle. The blade is a true full tang and can be removed from the handle for oiling after loosening a screw. The blade is well-seated in the handle parallel to the crossguard and is evenly-ground on both sides- better than can be said about 95% of Chinese and Pakistani replicas.Likewise, the sheath looks exactly the same, down to having the exact same brass buttons. The sheath itself can be detached from the back webbing with a snap and used with the built-in sharpener on the sheath to sharpen your knife. I really like this sheath design because it has a very snug fit and you can position the knife upside down without using the retaining strap and it won't fall out. A couple notable differences from the German version: the sheath on the real KM 2000 is airtight, while the sheath on the Mil-Tec has the slightest amount of side-to-side wiggle. This doesn't really both me though because the knife stays in the sheath even if you shake it very hard. The "diamond sharpener" on the Mil-Tec also feels a lot rougher than the real KM 2000, and I can't give you my confidence that it has actual diamond in it or would do an awesome job sharpening. Still, this is a small, crude sharpener for emergency field sharpening, and you shouldn't be using it for routine sharpening of your knife anyway. There aren't a lot of cons to the Mil-Tec knife, other than the slight sheath wiggle mentioned above, but they might make the difference to a buyer. Firstly, the knife comes very dull- I know for some people it really matters that the knife comes razor sharp. If you are just going to be using this as a collectible though, sharpness doesn't really matter, and if you are a knife enthusiast who plans on using the knife, I imagine you would be sharpening it yourself anyway. The other is the steel- not that it is bad: I just don't know how well it will perform. 440C steel is very similar (or some will say "the same") as Bohler N695 steel from which a real KM 2000 is made. What we don't know about is the tempering. German knives are known to have best-in-the-business heat treating and hardening; I have other Eickhorn knives and I have beaten the hell out of them with barely any dulling and no chipping. Chinese heat treating is really hit and miss- depending on the company and how well they enforce quality control; anything from equivalent quality to using no heat treating at all so the steel is soft and acts like aluminum foil. I don't plan on heavily using this knife so I don't know how well the steel will hold up, but I would exercise caution if you are buying this to use as a campcraft or heavy work knife.Overall, I think the Mil-Tec KM2000 is a very good replica of the real knife and certainly worth the $50 price tag just for the quality and effort it took to make it as authentic as possible. I definitely think this is a good choice for people who love the design of the German Army knife, but don't want to spend over $200 on a real KM2000.5 out of 5 stars.

Solid
This is the newer model of German Army Kampfmesser first issued in the early 2000s, replacing the green Bundeswehrkampfmesser. Fit and finish is excellent, though of course the coating on the knife will start to come off with use. The plastic sheath holds the knife securely and is easily removable from the vertical MOLLE-compatible nylon holder, while attaching securely to the holder. The knife is full-tang and solid, made of generic 440 steel (probably 440A). It does not have any special markings to designate it as German military except for the patterns on the snaps, which are the same dotted pattern as on other German military issue (but unless you know that, you can't tell just by looking at it.) You can probably get something similar by MTech for less money, but if you want an actual KM2000 this is a very solid version.
