Salewa Men's Ultra Flex Mid GTX Mountain Training Shoe

These are awesome. I don’t do a lot of hiking but I wanted something light like a trail running shoe but with some ankle support, and these fit the bill. This is the first review I have written, and I am doing it only because I like these boots that much. When I got mine in I immediately went on a trip where we hiked all day for three straight days. I had noticed there was a tag saying that these came with a blister free guarantee. I laughed and assumed it was marketing hype. After my second day hiking with 9 other guys I was the only one without blisters. I agree they have a narrow fit as I usually wear wide shoes, but after about 5 minutes of wearing them I don’t notice it anymore and they are very comfortable. The quick lace system works great. The tread on the bottom provides great traction wet or dry. I couldn’t be more impressed with these, and I will definitely buy more from Salewa. If your on the fence I say give them a try. If the narrow fit bothers you these may not work, but I tried them anyway and I am glad I did.

I absolutely love these shoes.They are not only comfortable with an excellent grip, but everyone else wants to know where I bought them.The draw string lace is easy to secure and tucks away into the pouch. The only negative feedback is that the pooch isn't long enough for a complete housing of the lace and tends to fall out during any workouts or mud runs. It may catch on things in the obstacle course, but is unlikely. Can also be tucked in behind the tongue if desired.Overall I would buy these again if I needed to, but they are of excellent quality and I don't see myself needing another pair for quite sometime.

They feel like great on my feet , I previously wrote a review about these and now I’m fine tuning it } These boots fit better with no socks or possibly thin no show socks ; I have ordered a set of thin no show workout stocks to verify at this point I’m not going to return them , I’m going to give them a chance, I first tried them on with regular stocks and they where tight and my heal wouldn’t seat well then I took my socks off and wala they fit better but I need some type of sock on my feet while working out.

Awesome trail running shoe. The light weigh really makes a difference as the miles add up and the ankle support has saved me from ugly face plants. Shoes are very much a personal thing. These fit me perfectly. The fit is a lot like Salomon's Speed Cross 3/4s, which also fit me great (and I also use for less rooty/gnarly trails).

I have bought 4 pairs over the last few years and wear them at work mostly. I am a postal letter carrier walking about 10 miles a day. They fit and feel like my running shoes. I have even run 7 minute miles in them and that's not to bad for being 51 years old.

UPDATR AFTER 9 MONTHSI am downgrading to 1 star only because of the design flaw in the lacing system. The eyelets lasted well under a year. Soon enough there will be no way to tighten these boots. I attempted some repairs by sewing a leather add-on, but half the eyelets are covered by the “protective” nylon webbing so I can’t access them unless I cut through. Bad design....BUT, I otherwise like them so much I was willing to go through the process of fixing them with leather inserts. Pretty much left them brand new, if you overlook some minor scars—pictures included.UPDATE AFTER 8 MONTHS OF USE...--> still a fantastic boot and I'd definitely buy again (more on the positives later). My only concern (and reason for knocking off a star from my previous 5-star review down to 4) is that the lace system (which I absolutely love for its simplicity and functionality) includes fabric pass-through eyelets, and with the grit and after just 8 months of use, the bottom one closest to the toes has started to fray and is at about 50% it's original width. Eventually I'll have to sew on a reinforcement, and even then that will be a challenge so as not to puncture the GTX membrane. Bad design choice to not include more reinforced eyelets that will not wear as easily with the movement of the lace system. This being said, I've put this boot through 5 national parks in Utah, Grand Teton and Yellowstone in WY, and Glacier NP (all in only 8 months) and so far it's been fantastic. I've had my foot in 3 inches of water with no problem, treaded on snow with no major chills, hiked on dirt and rock and the sole still looks like new.--- ORIGINAL REVIEW FOLLOWS ---Got these just in time for my roadtrip to (and light hiking through) Utah. Within a few hours with these on they were already broken in and comfortable. Grippy sole, comfy upper. Arch is a little high but not too bad to the point I’ve become accustomed to it already. Lace system is spectacular (and I’ve had Salomon and Adidas laces of this kind—these are better!). I have problems with more rigid hiking boots like alpine or more stiff ascent boots and eventually I get a lot of pain on the outside of my foot around the upper lace eyelet—typically it happens to me with all boots, which is why I opted for these more flexible ones, and so far they have served me perfectly.Update after coming back with and aggregate of about 30 miles hiked (and about 60 miles walking altogether): these are great boots and will put up to some moderate abuse. Not sure I’d hine down a rocky glacial morraine but for trails they are better than anything I’ve had before. Also warm enough for at least light snow and not too hot for summer either. Great all-around option.

I wore these everyday hiking in Hawaii! They go on easy and come off simply. They are comfortable over sharp and rugged terrain. When areas were we slippery these performed extremely well. Footing was solid. My feet stayed very comfortable, heat wise, they ventilate very well. Overall a great hiker and everywhere shoe!
