Great for Large Flies
This is a very deep fly box, perfect for those large, bulky flies and streamers that won’t fit in a standard fly box. It’s made of a sturdy, lightweight plastic and appears very durable. The clasp and hinges seem durable as well. I’m happy with this box; it holds my big bass flies and feels like it will take whatever abuse I throw at it. Great box at a reasonable price.

Good, Large Fly Box
I have been looking for a larger fly box that could hold an assortment of streamers, but was compact enough to fit in my waist pack and I didn't want to pay a lot. I tried several brands and styles, but this is the one I ended up keeping. What I like...I prefer the split foam vs the foam tabs that a lot of boxes have. The tabs work fine for nymphs and what not, but once you start trying to put some streamers or saltwater flies in them they don't hold very well. I also prefer the foam to the silicone material that some boxes have. The foam seems like it should hold up for a while, but I've only had the box a month or so. Likewise the box seems pretty sturdy in general (I've dropped it on a gravel bar already), but time will tell. The box opens and closes easily, but holds securely when latched. It seals well so make sure to leave it open for a bit if there's wet flies in it at the end of the day. I'm carrying streamers in it right now, but it's roomy enough that I may reorganize it and carry all the flies for a day's worth of fishing. What I didn't like...The cost is a bit more than I would have liked, but I had a credit from some returns so it wasn't like I was spending additional money. I have found some similar looking boxes for cheaper so if I buy more I'll probably go that route. Also there was a bit of a funky smell from the box at first. Kind of a chemically aroma. I think it was from the foam. Anyway, after setting it out open for a few days it was mostly gone and after a few fishing trips I don't notice any off smells...but my wife does say I'm nose blind so take that for what it's worth.

Bigger than i thought, but good.
Overall i like this fly box. When going out to fly fish i go as minimal as i can, my rod, a box of flies, my pliers and a few extra tippets. This box is BIG. I am unable to just throw it in my pocket. But it holds those bigger salmon or saltwater flies great. So ultimately im torn on this box.It is durable for sure. I have already dropped this box down small cliffs while climbing down to water. I kicked this box across the street (it fell out of my hands while walking). It is holding up AMAZINGLY!It truly does hold those 1/0-5/0 articulated flies well. But because of this it sacrifices conceal ability. Other than carrying a small sling bag to hold it, i see no other way to get it around the rivers, lakes, and bays. I wish it was just half as long. That alone would make it better for minimal carry weight. If you are used to having a vest, or bag with you while fly fishing, this IS 100% THE BOX FOR YOU!! If you want to be able yo throw it in your pocket, think again.I may just stick with the handful of flies on my hat for minimal weight days. Otherwise this is an AMAZING fly box and i love it!

New Phase Salmon Fly Box is the best of the five I tried.
Best to worst, left to right, top to bottom. Hope this helps.1.) New Phase Salmon Fly Box. The best of the five. The winner. Best latch opens easily and closes securely. Lid stays parallel when not supported, doesn't flop down making items potentially fall out. Easy one-handed opening and closing.2.) Aventik 100% Waterproof Swing Leaf Fly Box. Looks almost identical to number one yet has a significant flaw- the lid flops down when opened so things potentially will roll out of it if not on a flat surface. Also the latch is much more awkward to open one-handed than the New Phase.3.) Hicreat Double-Sides Fishing Tackle Box. Very sturdy! But flaws are that the latch is ridiculously complicated, unfolds like a transformer and is difficult to operate one-handed. Not intuitive! Also, the interior wastes a lot of space.4.) Feeder Creek Fly Fishing Fly Box. No major flaws but most expensive. Nice box.5.) Kingfisher XL Lightweight Foam fly Box. Don't waste your money. The "hinge" is nothing but a thin piece of flimsy fabric which I would estimate will fail after one full day of use in the outdoors. Looks like a make-up case rebranded as a fly box. The magnetic closure is cool though.

Perfect for large streamers
I was struggling to find a good streamer box that would fit my bass and top water streamers that also would still fit in my sling pack. This box is large enough to fit large game hangers and top water baits. Have yet to test how water tight it is but the seal looks decent And should hold.

An excellent box for big flies
I'm using it for bass/cart flies and streamers. The only complaint is that the plastic shell is a little slippery. The inside foam is great for streamers but you'll probably use an empty slot between flies. I'm ordering two more.

Best Value fly box on the market
I just bought this for the 3rd time and will now own 7 of these boxes. They last, I bought my first one 3 years ago or so, and I can't tell it apart from my other two. They are big enough, but not too big. They carry articulated streamers, deer hair bass bugs, and large saltwater flies all without crushing the flies. They fit into a small sling pack or large vest pocket. They are waterproof, so if they get dunked, you don't end up with a bunch of wet flies to dry out.It also appears the respected "The Fly Shop" of Redding, CA, uses these as the house brand streamer box.

Great big fly box for great big flies
I just started fishing for Striped Bass and needed a fly box for larger streamer flies. This sure is a great fly box that fits a couple of dozen large flies --- from size 6 to 2/0. I like the material inside the box and I like the closure mechanism. It looks to be water tight and should float - even when it is full of flies. Other fly boxes with the same features have become my favorite - I am very happy with my purchase.
