Anecdotal Aardvark Playful Cats Bookends (Pair)

These look pretty good and are nice and heavy. However, when I received them there was a one by half inch chip off the base. It clearly had not happened in shipping and had to have been there before even being packaged. The packing was almost pointless with all the bubble wrap already popped and the thin styrofoam broken. I'm going to try for a second set, but if I can't get an unbroken set then quality and appearance are a non-issue.Edit: The second set I received arrived unbroken. However, the end needed to replace the one with a chip out from the first order has an extra lump of material on the bottom not allowing it to sit flat. I'm going to be trying for a third set. Third time's the charm?Edit: The third set I received had a tail completely broken off. This, of course, was the end that I already received with a chip out and then the extra lump of material on the bottom. I'm either going to return all sets and keep none, or just live with an unsteady bookend.

The medium weight of this set means it does best with books not too much taller than the cats. But with mixed sized children's books, it can't hold too much. Also any shift in weight results in bookends sliding out. Mine chipped at the base because we pulled two quarter-inch width books out at once. They are otherwise very nice and good for books not more than an inch taller than the cats to prevent damage to the bookends (when they slip and the row of books falls over). I just glued the corner back.

The bookends are quite nice, however the packaging is terrible. My first set arrived with the tail broken on one of the cats. So I got a refund and re-ordered and guess what? Another broken tail. The problem is that there is only one thin piece of cardboard in between the side-by-side packed bookends. Obviously this is not enough. Three's a charm, right? So, another refund, but I am going to try one more time. If they arrive broken again I give up.

They are really adorable, so not necessarily what you want in a refined, upscale room, but I like them. I think they look cuter than in the photo. The main drawback is that they are not very large - which seems good at first if you have limited space - but ends up being a problem because they are not really heavy enough to securely keep more than a few books upright.

These are really adorable. Very cute and a really nice size and weight. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the one has a large chip in the base. I'm disappointed because they are soooo cute. I'm not sure I want to go through the annoyance of sending them back. The packaging was fine so the chip had to occur before that.

The Bookends are very nice. My wife loved them as she's wanted bookends for her cookbook collection for some time. Only problem was the tail of the one kitten was broken off in shipment. I was able to reglue it, but it was not packed properly to prevent damage.

The first set arrived broken....asked for replacement and it arrived in two days, which was great, but again, both of them are chipped/broken. I give up.

Came bubble wrapped in a huge box that they banged around in and corner wore through.Color came off where there where holes, I'm surprised they were not broken.Aside from needing a new coat of paint they are heavy and look nice.
