Studying the Psalms
This book, 'Psalms for all Seasons' is fabulous. It is hardbound, well made, great paper, excellent binding and great print. If you are interested in exploring the Psalms, even superficially, this is a great book. I have lots of books on the Psalms, but most are just a chronological list of the Psalms. Any actual information or notes on the various Psalms is hard to find. That is were this book comes in. It has each Psalm by number from NRSV. Each Psalm has an associated Prayer, and a complete Footnote that explains most things about the particular Psalm. Each Psalm is accompanied with appropriate Hymns and Chants.I read a daily Catholic devotion like 'Magnificat' and I look up and read about the various Psalms that are a part of the daily reading, in this book. Wonderful way to get more out of your reading. This book is only $24 delivered and I think it is a bargain. A separate book with this much information is very hard to find and I have found a favorite.I you wish to explore the Psalms this is the book for everyone.

Great Edition of the Bible's Songbook
This a wonderful resource for both personal/family devotions and for plannign corporate worship. For each psalm, one gets the straight text for praying - pointed for chanting should one wish to "pray twice" by singing the psalm, plus 2-5 musical options for praying the psalm in the context of corporate worship. These latter options include hymn paraphrases for almost all the psalms, refrains for contextualizing the psalms, and various song settings. Each psalm also includes a psalm prayer which may be considered, plus suggestions as to the use of the psalm. The volume includes helpful guides in the beginning for the use of the book, teaching the practice of praying the psalms, and explanations of the various approaches to singing the psalms. Though the regular text I use is from a different psalter, due to my denominational heritage, I still find this volume to be an valuable contribution to my service in the Lord's ministry and for my personal edification as well. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in praying the psalms.

A beautiful book
I gave this book as a gift to my daughter as a confirmation gift. It is a lovely book and the music is wonderful. It made for a very nice keepsake and life-long prayer book. The psalms and their use is very simular between Catholic and Protestant (at least those who pray the hours) but the musical compositions should be more familiar to Protestants. The only people who would be disappointed with the book would be Catholics who are expecting to see familiar settings. With that said, I think the book is wonderful for all Christians who pray the psalms.

Indispensable tool for worship planners and church musicians
Great worship planning companion. At least a couple of options for every Psalm. Guitar chords, too! I use this in conjunction with the common lectionary to choose a psalm reading and/or song to enhance the service. A mix of styles represented, from Genevan through contemporary.

Check my review for the Lift Up Your Hearts hymnal ...
Check my review for the Lift Up Your Hearts hymnal. This is a companion Psalter to go with Lift Up Your Hearts that is another joint publication of the Christian Reformed Church in America and the Reformed Church in America that came out of the symposiums held annually at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan on music and worship. It even has multiple settings for the same Psalm.

Incredible Resource
Psalms for all Seasons is a remarkable resource for planning and leading gathered worship. Every psalm is offered in a variety of settings, including suggestions for responsive readings with a prayer that reflects the psalm's theme and mood. Sung settings for each psalm as well as hymns with lyrics and music are included. If you're a pastor or in any way help plan corporate worship, get this book!

Amazing resource. I love that it not only contains all the Psalms, but sometimes several different arrangements/options of the Psalm. Also includes some suggestions for responsorial speaking/singing for some. This has become one of my go-to resources.

"Music for the Psalms"
"Music for the Psalms" that's what the title should be. It's too much on the musical side this book is for persons who have formal music training, much less on the historical side.

A Versatile Collection of Psalm Settings
The main strength of this collection of sung psalm settings is the range of settings offered for each psalm. Select a psalm (which in the collection helpfully retains the biblical numbering: 1-150) and you will find a number of settings (A to K), many of them set to traditional and familiar tunes. The traditional tunes are balanced by the inclusion of more recently composed tunes, providing a wide range of musical style and mood. The words are mainly paraphrases, but the full text of each psalm is also included and, in some cases, tunes for chanting the full text. At the end of the setting for each psalm a short prayer is provided (a Reformed version of a 'collect') based on themes from the psalm. A short synopsis of the psalm is provided with suggestions for its use in public worship. I have found the collection useful when selecting psalm settings for worship, often finding in the various paraphrases and tunes emphases and moods in the psalms that I had not encountered before. There are settings of three New Testament Canticles, some short liturgies for Morning, Noon, Evening, and Night Prayer, and some useful appendices and indexes. It is co-published by the Calvin Institute for Christian Worship and Faith Alive Christian resources, the latter being the publishing house of the Christian Reformed Church in North America, and has evidently had significant resources devoted to its development and publication. As resource that seeks to develop, rather than merely reproduce, the Reformed Genevan psalm paraphrase tradition, it is hard to fault.

Excellent Psalter
We have been looking for a Psalter with music of various kinds for years.Psalms for All Seasons has many different tunes, and styles of music, uses New Revised Standard Version which is our choice of a translation of the Bible, has many different languages, as does out congregation. It also has excellent indices, and many other worship aids. Could not be any better.
