Force is everything to Tempels
Force and lineage are central components of Tempel's narrative. For those working to gain more insight about African philosophy, I think this book can serve you well.

Ethnophilosophy, Eurocentrism and African Philosophy
The four star review is not for the content of this book but for its importance in Africanist discourses. The importance of this book lies in the questions which came after it. Notably what method one uses to philosophise Africa, in the strict meaning of the word. It is an obviously Eurocentric text, Tempels claimed to be speaking for the African, to let the African learn African ontology from him. His claim of the superiority of the western philosophy and being over the African has been a source of contestation in the thought system of Africa since the publication of this book. As for the method, this work was an instrumental precursor to the school of ethnophilosophy which is now widely contested as a viable grid.Basing his arguments on ethnological observations among the Luba nation of Congo, Tempels frequently draws generalised conclusion about the African.
