Impeccable instruction
This book is a life-changer. I borrowed it from the library & ordered my own copy the same day. I love Callan's teaching style & technique. I've also added 4 of her dvd's to my collection. This book is comprehensive & could work as a stand-alone Callanetics resource. The 10 years younger dvd (the counterpart to this book) gives good visuals of the nuances of the movements with Callan teaching every-day students. (The book is more comprehensive--the video augments the book.) The Super Callanetics dvd adds advanced moves to the one-hour routine presented in the book & another opportunity to glean subtleties in proper form as Callan demonstrates the moves in the beginning & then proceeds to instruct master practitioners as they complete the sequence. This book alongside Super Callanetics (excellent instruction & progressive movements) are my favorite & most referred to Callanetics resources. I'm thankful for Callan, Callanetics & the clarity & grace with which it is conveyed.Update: I added the Super Callanetics book to my collection. (It's out of print & available used though amazon.) It's a real treasure. I think it's the best Callanetics resource for one's evolving practice. It contains helpful suggestions for each exercise to achieve proper form & make each exercise more challenging or less challenging. It also includes tips Callan used in her own personal practice. After doing the sequence over a dozen times, I know it by heart & enjoy it as a moving meditation first thing in the morning. I like keeping the Super Callanetics book & a timer alongside when I practice.

Unbelievable!
I was looking for something that would tighten my stomach and pelvic floor and upon research ran across Callanetics. I decided to purchase this dvd (in 2012), and got unbelievable results. Such as life, got busy, quit doing the work outs and forgot the dvd altogether. I have always been fairly petite, and noticed I started ballooning out in all the wrong places arms, gut, cellulite covered my legs ect., ect. I started using weights and doing tiny are circles to try to tighten my jiggly arms back up. Some times doing up to 300 rotations (150 forward & 150 in reverse). Nothing, nada, zilch! Well I ran across my Callanetics dvd and decided to start back doing them again. So I did, and let me tell you, My arms tightened back up to pre-pregnancy size (keep in mind from my very 1st child 10 years ago, I have 3 total)! My husband went out of town for 5 days, came home and asked me, "What happened to you? You look amazing!" It made me feel great. My jeans are looser, my tops are looser, my stomach is flatter. The cellulite on my legs was horrible, and I'm not talking about those people who say, "I'm covered in cellulite", then you have to break out the magnifying glass to find it. My cellulite woes were/are legit. We're talking about hail damage here... golf ball size hail damage. My children ask me what happened to my legs, if I was in an accident. I laugh and tell them no, it's just a part of getting older. Anyway I have done 5 hours so far and it is just about gone on my quads. My hamstrings, were still working out. I am hoping, by ordering the Super Callanetics, it will clear the hail damage on the backside on up. I hear the Super C. is more advanced and double the moves. I am excited and looking forward to it (should arrive in a week). My rump, it's always been saggy, even when I ran track in high school and did weight lifting- ugh...WHAT GIVES?! One friend told me when I tanned to put a tooth pick between my butt and legs to hold it up to get some sun under there -yeah that saggy. I never tried it, but I probably could have carried money, or pencils or whatever back there. It was like it's own personal compartment. At 33 years old, for the 1st time in my life it is lifting up like Callans! Yay to perky deriairs! I am telling you who gives a flip about the music, the hair, the leotards? If you get results, you get results! Stop waisting time and buy the dvd, you wont' regret it!

One of the best exercise programs out there
I had done Callanetics years ago and it got me in the best shape of my life. I recently started doing it again and it is amazing the muscle memory I have for these exercises. I like that these are small, ballet type moves, but are very effective at using your muscles. Some are extremely difficult at first but if you persist, and just do what you can even if you can't hold the positions for as long as they say, it's ok. Persist, and you will be amazed that soon you will be able to do the exercises and will be able to do them properly. You don't need any special equipment or anything. Just what's in your house. How great it that! And no jumping around or anything. I swear by these exercises. They absolutely work.

Results, Results, Results!!!
The minute movements required take some effort and getting used to, but the results are undeniable and very quick! As a 28 year old mother of 3, I went from a size 14 to a size 4 in just 3 months!!! I followed the book to a "T" and took my time, focusing on each tiny movement as required. Honestly, this program works if you follow it and there is no special equiptment needed; I used my kitchen island, a barstool, and kitchen table for workouts!

Callentics: 10 years Younger in 10 hrs
Thank you! Book arrived in great shape, even though it is big and heavy and only had a thin plastic mailer to protect it. A bubble wrap mailer would have been better. Still, clean and in great condition! This is a good book to have as an accompaniment to the original Callanetics video -- there are stories in it that I think are a wonderful for everyone who loves her approach to read about! Callan was teaching stretching, body awareness, and respect of the spine in all exercises at a time when a lot of women were pounding away at hours of aerobics and all sorts of potentially damaging routines. Its like the best of ballet, pilates and gymnastics, all in a workout less than an hour! When I was younger, I was so impressed by the picture account that actually showed the positive change in the body as people followed her lead (a marked improvement in only 10 hours--how encouraging!). I also enjoyed the 'Callanetics for the Back' book; there is little overlap with this book and some good stuff in that one, too! If you just want to try the exercises, though, I recommend getting the video.

Callanetics That Actaully Work To Tone Those Flabby Bits
This is the original as I know it and I love Callanetics , for some reason its the hardest exercise I think to master but its the only exercise that really tones you up without hurting yourself, This book covers all the original moves as I remember with pictures, its old fashion but its the original moves so you can master this lot and easily fit into your routine each day. the book shows each move correctly with options and also states what it will tone up so you can concentrate on certain parts of your body and the pictures are also easy to follow. I have been doing now for about 4 months and my core is so strong now other exercises are so much easier, if you can master the stomach exercises you can do anything. The best exercise for really muscle strength

Great to find this book again.
Lovely copy, just as I remember it from the 80s but better because this is a hardback! And I'm really enjoying getting back into these fantastically effective exercises (although some of them are rather harder than they used to be when I was a teenager!) Thanks very much.

Good, helpful book
Bought from World of Books LTD and never arrived. I had this book before, so I know what is inside. It would deserve 5 stars, but I never had the one I purchased. As I want to leave a review of the book, I had to give 1 star as the review rate. The book is detailed, gives all the essential information how to manage a healthier body, work the deep muscles etc.
