This book has been priceless!
I purchased an older pontoon with an OMC 3.0 Liter Cobra stern-drive. The pontoon had been sorely neglected for better than a decade. The motor was really hard to start, struggled to idle, and just would not run very well at all. After following the troubleshooting steps in this book, and the instructions for various repairs, the motor runs great. This book has saved me many many hundreds of dollars in repairs. Being able to do the repairs myself, and not having to wait for the boat shop to work on my boat, has given us weeks of fun on the water. Something else to mention is that, with the information learned in this book, I have also been able to help other folks with their motor issues as well.I would really encourage anyone who purchases this book to also get the parts manual for your particular stern-drive. Not only will it help you identify the specific part numbers you need, but the parts diagrams in the parts manuals will help many of the steps descriptions make more sense as well.Another tip: With the parts manual for your motor, you will quite often find resources online for the parts you need FARRR cheaper than at your local boat shop. However, one advantage of buying your parts at the local boat shop is fostering that relationship for help or advice if you need it.The Clymer manual is absolutely awesome! Very well done!!

Now that's a lot of misspellings
I guess it was written long before the advent of spell check. It's not too bad to understand, and maybe I'm the only one who read the section on winterizing. It doesn't have any instructions for replacing the hydraulic lines for the tilt trim system, which is what I have been searching for. Still, it seems to have lots of good instructions for the other work I will be doing.A little disappointed in either Amazon or the USPS. The manual was shipped in a pouch and somewhere along its journey must have been dropped as the corners have dents and folded pages consistent with a drop. Oh well. luckily books are a kind of technology that are very durable. :)

Very detailed
Had the answers to questions I had. Very detailed, almost too much detail. Had a section explaining what the most basic things are like nuts, bolts, screws, etc....

Informative, interesting and very helpful
I found the "Clymer OMC Cobra Stern Drive Shop Manual 1986-1993: Includes 1988 and 1989 King Cobra Models" manual to be very concise and accurately detailed. For the money it is one of the best (and one of the very few at that, at this price-point). I have found it to be a handy, helpful source of needed knowledge relating to the overall mechanics of the OMC Cobra I/O engine and stern drive. I would recommend this to others who have applicable OMC models and need for detailed info on repair and maintenance, of those specific OMC model power units.

What you need to know!!! If you want to do your own service.
I found this book to have enough detail to allow me to trouble shoot and resolve several issues I had with my motor. There are plenty of pictures that actually look like the parts on my boat. I found the inclusion of information as to, why, you needed to do certain things to be of great benefit. All in all, I found this to be a bargin for me in what it will save me on maintenance.

No EFI Section
Having bought 4-6 Haynes manuals in the past I assumed all were equal. This one was disappointing in that under EFI it tells you it's too complicated, bring it to a dealer. If I wanted to bring it to a dealer I wouldn't have bought this manual. Not to mention Cobra has been out of business for 20 years....
