Hard Evidence (Dismas Hardy Book 3)

I enjoy all of Lescroart's books and this one, even though early in the series comes through. You get to look inside his subjects through his character development, there's intrigue and a surprise ending. The San Francisco setting doesn't hurt either.

I have recently become a John Lescourt fan, rapid working my way through the Dismas Hardy series. Hard Evidence the third in the series introduces us to some characters who remain and take on greater prominence in these well crafted mysteries.All of the books take place in San Francisco. As this is local territory for me it adds color and familiarity which is a definite attraction. His books, at least thus far in my reading, are all who dunnits. There are enough twists in the trail to make it an interesting guessing game as the ultimate killer is among the characters who are presented early in the game. Identity and motive are well concealed until the end. In this book I targeted the murderer before the author revealed the identity but did not suspect the motive which motive which was jarring in itself.The personal lives of the main characters are presented in a manner that makes them alive and interesting unlike some mystery authors who see house these aspects as filler.There are a few in the series I have yet order, think I will add them to my Kindle now. My actual rating would be 4 1/4 stars.

The writer is excellent with character building, story telling, and believable twists of the plot. The reader can't put it down!

I really enjoyed this book a lot. The first part of the book held my interest, but was not a page turner. As the story went on it continued to improve and I could see how much of what happened in the beginning set the stage for what was to come. I think that Dismas Hardy, his wife and his cop friend, Abe Glitsky are all great characters. I did figure out "who done it" pretty early on, but that did not spoil it for me at all. It was well written and moved along continuously - no slow parts. He did a great job of really getting into Hardy's head throughout the story, which greatly added to the depth of the novel. I would have preferred if he had taken more time at the end with his closing argument and how the jury reached its verdict, etc. It ended kind of abruptly. Without getting too specific, I question a choice that Hardy made at the end as well as some other reviewers, but understand why the author chose to do this. In any case, I can without qualification recommend this book. I think that Lescroart did a wonderful job and look forward to reading more from him.

I like the author and specially the ones involving Dismas Hard and Abe Glitsky characters. They are always tension filled but a lot of social interactions with mystery and suspense. This one is a little drawn out with Hardy as a novice prosecutor turned defense attorney. Initial part of the book was a bit tedious and hence the 4 stars

My first read of this author. Started abut slow but kept me in there. Story built and became more interwoven until it was hard to put down. Will read more of his books.

John Lescroart books take you away to another world. I would recommend them to everyone. He draws you in and let's you get to know the characters well. Can't wait to read the next one.

This was/ is a real page turner! Great insight into courtroom procedures and a plot that keeps you reading! The end came all too quickly!

excellent read

Another roller coaster ride with Dismas Hardy as he battles the torturous legal system to serve justice and save a friend. Suspenseful right to the end, Diz finds the truth and learns the larger truth of being a father.

One of the best writers of this type of book and my favourite writers of all time. His books never disappoint.
