"This biography of Queen Eleanor, by Polly Brooks, is simply fascinating. It follows the life of Eleanor as she grows up to become a great ruler. It is mixed with facts about medieval life, and is quite beneficial and well-written.I wouldn't recommend it for under nine year olds; there are minor scandals and it would probably be too hard to read. Eleanor is divorced and remarries, and her husbands aren't faithful. She is a little frivolous, but grows out of it, and she tends to hold grudges. She grew up in Aquitaine, and she was indulged in whatever she wished for, so she is also slightly spoiled. I personally find her to be a heroine for standing up for her freedom. Overall, this book is filled with action, interesting, and impossible to put down." - Jenna (Age 11, homeschooler)

More for younger audience than adults.
This is an okay beginner book for learning about Eleanor of Aquitaine. It's not as well researched as Alison Weir's version, but it does well for introducing children into early English history and monarchy. My daughter loved it (and she doesn't even like to read!) and was able to discuss Eleanor with me. I'm very happy in that it has gotten my daughter more interested in reading, and especially in history.

Great Bio
This book is very well written, accurate, and as interesting as it can be. I do my family tree on Ancestry.com and found Eleanor to be my 37th great grandmother but I wanted to know if the information given about her was correct. The first place I thought to find a book was Amazon. And, as always I fount exactly what I was looking for. Thanks AmazonCynthia J Bradford

An excellent biography
This is another terrific biography from Polly Schoyer Brooks. It's perfect for an adolescent audience, but plenty captivating and well-written enough to engage an audience as well. Eleanor of Aquitaine is such a fascinating historical figure, and a rare figure of female empowerment during the middle ages. While I think anyone would enjoy this book, I would particularly recommend it to adolescent/teenage girls.

I've heard of Eleanor of Aquitaine before but didn't know much about her. This book was a wonderful way to get to know more about her. What a woman she was! She lived to an old age, especially for medieval times, and was still working for her kingdom until the end.A very strong leader who changed customs and brought the arts, poetry, architecture, and change for the better, wherever she ruled. Even the ideas of chivalry and romance that we know today are because of her.Very good and easy read!
