Lindner 2099 Phila-Combi-Box, Perforation Gauge

One of the best perforation gauges around! These things are usually sold out so don't hesitate on getting one if you see them for sale. I've tried eBay with very little success and Amazon is hit and miss so I waited a while before finally getting my hands on one of these. It's pretty straight forward and easy to use. Unlike the metal or paper gauges that can be found in abundance, this one has the gauges slightly elevated from the platform which makes allows the stamp's perforations to properly fit around the matching stubs. No more having to double or triple check with those flat gauges anymore! I don't use the tray for watermark detecting as I like to keep everything clean but it can be used as one. The case itself feels like its made from a good composite and has a little weight to it. The hinge feels secure and stays open at any angle. In other words it's not flimsy by any means and the construction feels solid. I would highly recommend this product to any philatelist out there.

Measuring perfs are important to me and when I am at a Stamp club meeting or a show this is the best one I have found that is an easy carry. When I looked at a bunch of stamps and I am tried holding a stamp against another perf reader while my eyes and hands are failing after long hours, the raised perf guides are easy to use.

Learning about stamp collecting has been fascinating. As I found out about the need to measure perforations, I had to find a easy guide. This one is great. Haven't used the box for identifying watermarks yet.

Vary handy and compact. Does not handle 8 and a half perfs but these are rare.
