I have an OLED 3D TV for viewing 3D movies and it works very well for that. I also use it for viewing s3D photographs taken with a s3D camera. The TV works well for that, but I think the best viewing experience is with an optical handheld viewer for a full immersive effect. Typical smartphone based VR viewers can be used for this. But they have two limitations; you can see the pixels of the phone's display because of the magnification, and the 16:9 ratio screen is cut in half, so s3D viewing area is more square than widescreen. The CINERA has two separate 16:9 displays built into it, one for each eye. And the resolution (2560x1440) is high enough to ensure you cannot see any pixelation or 'screen door' effect.So with sharp, well aligned s3D images, the image quality of the CINERA is unmatched by anything I've seen to date. In fact some images that I thought look good on my 3D TV I found were not as sharp as I thought when viewed in the CINERA.On the downside, the CINERA takes some patience to learn how to use and navigating with some applications, using the buttons provided on the unit can be a bit tedious.I have used the CINERA to view 3D movies and it works very well for this which is the designer's primary use case. It does provide a good alternative to a conventional 3D TV set if that for some reason is not practical.

Does not work on 3D and absolutely no support from Cinera how to make it work. No manual. No online trouble shooting assistance. It is as frustrating as it gets to spend almost $800 for a product that won’t work, and I can’t get any answers after many attempts online. It works great for 2D, with stunning screen, but 3D is absolutely not working. Can’t get an answer whether it’s the firmware, the 3D player, or whatever in hell is wrong with this gadget. I've tried connecting two 3D bluray players both from Sony and the Cinera screen gives me a prompt that the disc can not play because a 3D-capable screen has to be connected and that my screen (the Cinera) is not 3D capable!I finally got some assistance (a live voice) from Amazon support, but the call center agent, who was extremely nice and patient, couldn't really figure out what to do either. As much as I wanna keep this device as I enjoyed the 2D bluray, it did not serve my purpose, which was to enjoy 3D immersively. This is unfortunately still a beta product.One other thing: the device can not run for more than a few minutes when unplugged from an electric socket. The wi-fi is also very slow, especially when I compare it to my other wi-fi capable devices that run similar apps like Netflix.The interface is clean but really not advanced. it just looks very beta in every aspect.Sorry but I have decided to return it. I'll probably try to buy it again—yes, I’m a desperate optimist— in the future once all those bugs and service deficiencies are resolved. It’s very promising, but far from ready for prime time.

I usually watch a 3D movie 2-3 times a week with the Cinera. The picture is so much sharper and brighter than using the older passive or active 3D glasses systems. Since the major TV manufactures have quit making 3D flat panels and my Sony 55" that had a 3D screen became defective, I had to find a solution to still be able to watch my collection of 3D movies.Older 3D flat panel systems, such as the Sony 3D system I was using, suffered from severe cross-talk. Cross-talk is the ghosting or white outlines that were viewed on certain objects in the screen.The Cinera head set is a pleasure to use with the adjustable arm that fastens onto a piece of furniture such as an end table. There is zero weight on your head or face and this outfit does not cause eye fatigue as the older, previous 3D systems that became obsolete. Fortunately there still are 3D playback devices such as the Sony PS3, PS4, Samsung, Panasonic, and other brands that are still available. You'll have to have one of these 3D playback systems to plug into your Cinera headset via an HDMI cable.The only issue I do have is with 3D playback. Frequently, a dropped frame will occur every so often. Customer service has stated that they are working on a firmware fix that will take care of the occasional dropped frame playback.Other than that, I very happy with the Cinera System.
