Inspiring art work
I saw this book many years ago at a small travel bookstore. I immediately fell in love with the art work. I paint in ink and watercolor and this book inspired me to paint buildings. I love the color schemes that the author chose to paint the rooftops and buildings. The author's pencil line work is superb and impressive.

Lyrical and visual treasure !
This book is very inspiring for the urban sketcher. After seeing a review of this book where many of the beautiful artworks were shown, I was looking forward to studying Fabrics Moreau's artistry up close, dreaming of emulating his precise drawings and soft, lovely watercolour brushwork. The unexpected but very pleasant surprise was the prose. It gives me such pleasure to read the lyrical descriptions of a traveller's path across this famed city's skyline. The book is truly a feast for the eyes and joy for the soul.

Ah, Paris!
The artwork is what attracted me to this book. The information is spot on. I purchased it to give to a friend who had recently returned from his first trip to Paris. He was ever so pleased.

A personal trip through Paris
This and the companion Paris Sketchbook are wonderful. It's a big picture book in watercolor. I love the descriptive & personal stories. It's well worth the money. I love to color and have the "Secrets of Paris" coloring book. This and the Paris Sketchbook provide a lesson in shading and color choice.

I love this book
I love this book. The pages are thick, the colors soft and yet strong. It is my prize possession. I turn the pages almost every day marveling at the strength of the lines, the feeling of atmosphere within those lines and beautiful subtle colors. So glad I purchased this piece of art.

Paris from a different perspective
The media could not be loaded. Rooftops of Paris is another gorgeous collection of watercolour sketches from Fabrice Moireau. He has already published a sketchbook on Paris, but this time, the subject is dedicated to roofs, something we don't usually see on the streets. The 96-page hardcover art book is in squarish format, not the usual landscape format of his other books. The book is still big and the paintings are also printed big. Paper is non glossy and brings out the vibrant colours really well.If you have the Paris Sketchbook, you'll notice that the cover of this book is actually one of the sketches from there. Only this piece is duplicated, but redone in watercolour. The sketches are lovely. It's interesting to see Paris surveyed at roof level. The roof tops are made up of so many different shapes and forms. They are sometimes blue, orange, or just light as it reflects off the sun. Occasionally, you can see a statue standing alone amidst the buildings. The chimneypots that sit on roofs are very eye catching with their nice orange against the complementary blue backdrop of roofs - they look like chess pawns. The architecture of the place is wonderfully captured. You don't see much people on roofs, maybe roofers fixing antennas. What's captured seems like a very quiet and calm Paris when you're viewing it from the top. All sketches come with almost poetic commentary from Carl Norac. Not all the watercolours are from Fabrice Moireau. Some are from Hiroyuki Sasaki, but they aren't credited by labels so they are hard to spot. This is a beautiful watercolour sketchbook. Makes me want to go out and sketch each time I flip open the pages.(There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)
