A balanced perspective
As an educator, it's frustrating for me when closed-minded people (ahem, racist people) give low ratings to books that are historically accurate and include perspectives from outside those of white people. See the photo of the table of contents for the represented cultures and topics. This is a great book. It is part of our literacy and social studies curriculum, and it helps students understand the ENTIRE history of westward expansion in what became the United States. Kids don't get their feelings hurt when they learn about injustices that their ancestors committed. Instead, they learn the facts objectively.

Learning about Westward Expansion.
Since the virus have halted in person teaching, I needed to purchase this book that I already had. This is a very informative book on Western Expansion.

Very disappointed with the negative way the settlers were discussed within the provided information. If you are looking for a liberal progressive anti-american portrayal of the settling of the west this book would definitely be the fit. Happy I only rented this book from the library and didn't spend money on it.
