Crochet Bags! Hardcover – 1 Mar. 2006

I am not very impressed with this book. It is aimed at someone very new to crochet or about 14 years of age, to be precise. I wish the author had been more open about that.There is nothing in here I want to make and I have had the book now for 4 years!The reason I keep it is because I like one bag and think the instructions for how to make it are very clear. So I have kept it for that one tutorial, as it were. Which is lunacy really because there are a ton of blogs out there explaining how to make things.I will sell this book eventually. Its hardback which is also a pain.The only thing I will say about it that makes it DIFFERENT is the layout and shape. The book is shaped like a little bag. I regard this as a cunning ploy to suck in punters.

These bags are a bit unusable. I was going through a phase of wanting to crochet bags for the grandchildren and nieces, and bought quite a few books. This one looked good on the outside, but has designs that are not suitable for everyday use, they seem from another era. Ended up making up my own design. Instructions are in USA and not British, so takes a bit of time to understand them.

Some nice patterns

Some interesting bags in here - including one made from 'plarn' (plastic bag yarn) altho' her method of producing yarn from plastic carrier bags is not the best there is. Great for inspiration, although UK readers will need to check out the stitch translation as it's a US book. Worth a look, and as the book is not too big it could go in a roomy handbag - one that you've crocheted yourself, of course!

This book contains 15 patterns, of those there is only really 1 pattern that is anything out of the ordinary. All the other patterns could be invented by an intermediate crocheter without a moments thought.I've given the 2 stars since it would be a good choice for a complete beginner.

I have just received my new copy of crochet bags, and although I am new to crocheting, I have found the lay out of the book very good. I t explains in clear easy steps how to do the crochet stitches, and I dont see there being a problem in me being ableto pick it up!!
