KensingtonSmartSockets 6-Outlet, 8-Foot Cord, & 1260 Joules Premium Surge Protector (K62144NA) Rainbow

Have purchased probably 10 of these over the years for different purposes and for different people. So far, they have all done their job protecting electronics. I like the look and they feel sturdy. I like the multi-color outlets--but that is just a personal choice. This is the only brand I buy. While not inexpensive, the costs of failure (like when lightning hits your neighbor's tree, runs through your metal backyard fence and comes into your house) is high, of course. Hypothetically speaking of course.

This is a great surge protector 6 outlet which are all color coded so you can keep track of your cords by color. A set of the same color labels are attached so you know which cord goes with which item. The actual cord is 6 foot long and has a flush plug so that you can get behind furniture and have it flush to the wall if needed. It's great to have the longer cord when you need to reach an outlet that is away from the actual items you need to plug in. Works great as a indented on/off switch and easy to turn on and reset if needed. There are two green lights to show that it is on and functioning well. There are also two additional phone jacks in the end of the outlet strip if needed .Have just started using them but feel they will be of great service in the areas needed for the longer cords and surge protection.

I need an extension cord in my apartment and had gone through 2 extension cords a defective one I purchased through Amazon and one from the store both messed up or had slots not working. This extension cord I fell in love with b/c it comes with tabbed like stickers to put on the appliance your gonna connect in order to match it and know what you are disconnecting. I liked this because sometimes I need to disconnect something and instead of finding the right cable to disconnect the color labels tell me! In addition it has phone outlets on the extension cord which I did not use but I thought was nice. And there is a power button that turns everything on and off. There is also a button that protects it from over heating that shuts it off and you can reset it at the bottom. Great product for me sturddy and efficient.

I have one of these in each room and have given them to family members as gifts. Highly recommend! Worth every penny!

With only one GFCI outlet in the downstairs bathroom, we really needed this for a portable rad, hair dryer, and electric toothbrush charging. Easy to mount on the beadboard wall, it looks great and is working perfectly. The strange thing is there are two phone jacks on this unit - maybe for an office where you'd use it for LAN/WAN - I don't know. Might be more handy if they were USB chargers instead. Only gripe is that the cord is much longer than it needs to be for my application, but that's pretty minor.

Update, 3/4/2018: Still great!---Update, 12/1/2015: Both of my power strips are still going strong, five years after my original review. Highly recommended!I've owned one of these for 5+ years now, and when I recently needed another power strip for another room I did a bunch of research and found some cheaper alternatives that were well reviewed, but ultimately decided to purchase this color-coded model again. Call it silly, but I like the rainbow color scheme. It keeps me organized and adds a touch of style to the jungle of wires under my desk. It does come with color-coded wire ties, but I lost them in a drawer somewhere. I've never had a single negative issue with this product, and if I ever need a third power strip I'll definitely buy this one again.

Our home recently had a power surge due to a bad neutral causing voltage/amperage imbalances throughout the house. The situation was so bad that there were burning wire smells all over and light-bulbs were burning out, among other things. My laptop computer and my router both happened to be running at the time of the surge. In their case, the surge was absorbed by my K62146, and although it destroyed the power strip, its sacrifice saved both my laptop computer and my router, which is exactly what a surge protector is supposed to do. If only I had used this model for some of my other devices, instead of having a smattering a various brands.I think I'll be getting this model exclusively from now on, since I have proof that it's effective in protecting delicate electronic devices.

I received a pre-owned one of these from a fellow contractor while working a temporary job a few years ago. Fell in love with the color coded sockets. I used it for our stereo component system at home which uses almost all the sockets. It comes with color coded labels so you can affix them to the cord of your device to identify which plug/cord goes to which device. What a brilliant idea! So when we needed another surge protector/power strip for our guest bedroom, this Kensington was our "go to." Very, very happy with this product.

Bought this as a replacement for a previous surge protector. This item is far better and more suitable for my usage. I can now see the colour codes, surrounded by many black cords, which is now an distinction of what is plugged in where. Great product! Will buy another.

Funciona perfectamente, el cable no es ni muy largo ni muy corto y el producto pesa lo suficiente como para que no se mueva con facilidad sin ser tampoco muy pesado. El detalle de los anillos de colores con sus respectivas etiquetas para encontrar fácilmente a qué aparato pertenece el enchufe ya es cuestión de gustos y no afecta en lo absoluto en su funcionalidad. Recomendado.

Love it!! Only thing that would be better is if it had a USB port.
