GREAT MERINO BASE LAYER
First and foremost I need to dispel any one star reviews as stupid. It would need to be a very poorly made product for such a rating, and it is not; it is very well made.Itchy: The one comment is that it itches. I was always told to wash garments and linen before wearing/using due to the manufacturing process. So, I wore one without washing and one with washing before wear. The one worn without washing was ever so slightly itchy, but hardly a significant itch. The one worn after first washing was fine. After washing they do not itch, probably due to residual fibres being washed away.As to the garment being smelly: On my first wear I played golf for four hours on a sunny day, hitting two balls per hole; I then practiced for 2 hours. There was no smell whatsoever when I took it off. On the weekend I went to the lakes and hiked for 6 hours over Red Screes, and to prove a point wore it again the next day. I did, however, wash myself. Buying one of these isn't an excuse for not being hygienic and clean. The outcome was very favourable and no smell of any sweatiness. The fit: I am 39.5 chest and I buy medium or large depending on the fit. Some have complained it is too tight. In my case the medium was slightly large and could of been tighter - more on that later. But overall I thought the fit was fine. After all, no-one is a perfect shape to fit garments that are made to suit a generalised population size. I am happy with the fit. As far as the comments regarding it being too tight: it is a base layer and should be a second skin, otherwise it won't do the job it was made to do and work effectively. That said, the medium was slightly large, but not significantly so, and it may well shrink a little with my washing technique. The arms are slightly long, covering part of the wrist. I have no complaint here as I prefer longer garments for winter wear, adding warmth to the wrist area (see image). The garment holds it's shape very well, due in part to the polyester mix. I think the 80/20 wool/poly is a good one. I wish they would make the T shirts in the same mix instead of the 50/50. I think, if anything, the only thing I would like to see is a heavier weave for very cold conditions. So, in conclusion, it's a nicely made merino top, and for the price, it's a steal. If you want to buy more expensive as I have for 100% merino £65, then do so. But for the money it's hard to beat.

Astonishing value for money
Bought 2 of these in 2018, with the long johns as well and they have become a complete essential item for me. I use the tops practically daily during the cooler months, and they are still going strong - no wear, rips, frays or holes at all. They are so comfortable and so warm, either as a base layer in really cold weather, or as a stand alone top during milder weather. I wear them when im out hiking and they perform brilliantly - very comfortable, wick sweat, stay warm, dry quickly. They're also so comfy and regulate temperature so well I often just wear them in the house on their own as well, even during the warmer months. Can't recommend enough. For the price, especially compared to some other base layer brands, these are such giid quality and such a good investment, I'm about to buy more just to keep in reserve just in case they're suddenly discontinued or sold out.

Great in cold weather under a shirt or jumper
Good product, the merano wool works wonders. This undervest is slightly itchy on the skin compared to an earlier identical suppliers’ top I purchased. Whether the blend is different is difficult to say but the benefits of a warm body without perspiring outweigh the slight itchy irritation.

Have concerns about the the product I received and what is claimed here
No where on te package or the product I see it say explicityly that is 80% merino wool as claimed. The label says at least 50% new wool. It says Merino then in fine print says acrylic wool base layer. What does that mean? The woolmark sign is not there. @Amazon should investigate fale products. I don't think I have got what I thought I was buying even though I paid a high price. @Mountainwarehouse can you clarify please. I have posted photos so you can see for yourself. I feel that the packaging and wording are carefully done to give an impression but actually the product is something else. Very annoyed!!

Listen to your better half
It’s warm, lightweight and fits as expected but within a couple of wears and no washing yet it’s already gone bobbly. Is not as good as my other 100% merino base layer from another retailer but is half the price. I’d hoped that the mix of a little bit of man made fibre would have made it less likely to bobble and harder wearing. My wife is all “I told you so” smug, because she said I should have bought a second base layer from the retailer whose product I was happy with and not worried about paying more for something good. She’s not often wrong, to be fair. You get what you pay for, I guess.

Nice and warm
Having been hiking for a number of years, but it wasn't until our recent trip up Snowdown that I realised my choice of layers were not ideal. I never really gave much thought on fabric composition, but only after a bit of research did I understand that what I had been wearing (e.g. cotton thermals and tops, acrylic jumpers etc) although kept me warm, they did nothing to help with perspiration.Merino wool is considered an ideal base layer but they're not cheap to buy. So I'm glad that I stumbled upon this in Amazon. I paid £12.99 which is an absolute bargain. It's very soft, comfortable and isn't itchy at all. It's slim fitting too so should be good at keeping me warm. I bought a Small which fits me perfect (I'm 5'9 and of slim build).I have yet to test it out properly on a hike, but no doubt it'll perform much better than what I have been used to. I like it so much that I have since bought another at the same bargain price.
