Replacement Hearthstone Baffle Board, Mansfield 8011 & 8012, 3120-202, 2426A

If you are reading this, you are as sad as I was when I broke the very fragile existing baffle trying to get 15 years of ash/creosote out of the top. The installer had left a piece of strapping across the oval-round flue adapter so I could not get a shop vac in there (why I almost always do things myself). I looked around for options and found this one. Someone put a lot of thought into this part.• Arrived well packaged.• Fit perfectly. I did not have to cut it.• Is designed for easy installation. If you are reading this, you know this matters. BTW… Find the two cotter pins.• The shiplap seam works very well. I’m not worried about it.• It is far more affordable than other options. Paying more for a less good installation experience was not in my plan.• It is fire rated 1800 degrees rather than the original 2300. If I ever get there, I'll buy another one...I’ve had about three weeks of fires and some hot ones, and the baffle doesn’t appear different than the day I put it in. Someone should recognize the person that designed this part. Thank You.

Haven't built a fire yet but seems like a great replacement for the original board on my 19 year old stove. My stove had basically a piece of angle iron holding the board down in the front that was always rattling around. The piece of stainless steel with wires to attach the board is a big improvement. I haven't priced a replacement from Hearthstone in years but I'm sure this is much cheaper. Highly recommend.

This replacement baffle board for our Hearthstone Clydesdale insert was very economical when compared to a factory original which runs in the neighborhood of $200+. The most difficult part of replacing this board is the removal of the board carrier frame which is quite heavy and somewhat time consuming and difficult to do. You can go to Hearthstone's web site and see the procedure in the page for the Clydrsdale insert. Be very careful how you handle this board as it is very light and fragile. I would suggest that you apply some anti seize to the screws and bolts to make them easier to remove in the future. Since the original board was about six years old, I can't rate how long this board may last. Although this board was received in good condition thanks to its factory packaging, Amazon did a poor job by placing it in an oversized carton with no paper or peanuts to keep it from sliding around.

It did fit and no cutting(which might be where people that have to cut are running into problems) You cant cut the lip off so you have to cut the ends which have 2 separate cuts because the shape of the firebox(its not square) No instructions. The only Y/T video that shows how to do it ,dose not work on the 8570.It does matter which piece goes where.(It might very for each stove)Otherwise you will have a gap like some reviews described.The larger piece goes on theR with the lip facing down.The smaller goes on the L with lip up.Video says to slide between the 1st & 2nd tube,,NO,not mine.It slides up in front of the first tube and the the baffle support(#33 on the parts diagram) the baffle support just lays up there. Another tip is make sure you remove all the old crap from the back where the baffle rest.If everything does not line up and gap is not tight there might be something still in there.And there is NO cotter pins holding the baffle on the 8570.The back of the baffle nestles in,and the baffle support holds it in place .

Easy to install. I don't handle repairs too well but this was pretty easy. Found video online for how to replace the broken one and all went well.

Instructions are brief. I had a set of installation instructions from a previous replacement OEM baffle board kit I put in several years ago. I used those instructions again and it simplified the install. You have to be very cautious with the wire when you tie it, so it doesn't pull it into the baffle material. A good opportunity to vacuum out the upper section of the wood stove before you install the new baffle.

I originally was disappointed in this product due to it cracking on 2 units so I wrote to linn mfg. and could not be more impressed with the timely response to me and their genuine interest in the problem. Below is a bit more information on this particular board - as we have made a change to the design to help with the issue you have had.I apologize for experience you've had with the product. Regarding this particular item, we have actually made a recent change in the design of the board, as we believe part of the cracking to be due in part to the method the board is fastened to the heat tubes with the pins. The high-temperature insulation of the baffle boards actually shrinks as it heats up, where the metal expands, thus creating a lot of stress on the board as it is pinned to the tubes. Nearly all of the failures we have seen end up going through the mounting holes which has led us to believe this is the main cause. We rarely change the design from what the OEM uses, but in this case we believe a change is needed. In the latest version of the board, we have changed the holes to be elongated slots so there is room for everything to expand and contract without stressing the board.Regarding the break in procedure, we do have one that we recommend, and we have started including it with the boards. I will attach it here for your reference.For replacements, I completely agree that we should replace your purchase at no cost. I will look at our inventory to see if we have the updated version ready. Product looks great, well packaged and arrived in a timely fashion; for some reason even with ordering the correct model replacement for my hearthstone I had to drill for the brackets and assemble the Humpty Dumpty broken pieces of my old one and re-cut this entire board to fit the stove, not the most difficult job ever but these extra steps didn’t help save any time
