Jlpt N3 Nihongo Somatome Kanji

Very useful. I like the illustrations and example phrases included. I recommend this to anyone studying for the JLPT and/or wanting to thrive in Japan. Plenty of real life examples throughout.

I passed the JLPT N3 this past year, through using this series even though I did not complete all of the books. This book just list kanji and a few words/kanji compounds that the kanji appears in for the most part. I also used StickyStudy Kanji on the iOS app store to study with as well. I definitely suggest working through some kind of JLPT books if you are planning to take the test, because having a Japanese major and going to Japan for a few months to study will not guarantee you know the material on the test to pass it.

Great for studying for the JLPT tests, uses everyday scenarios that will making memorization easier. I would definitely recommend for someone trying to take the test this year.

This is and the Vocabulary books are probably the weakest of the N3 books. They are basically just lists of what you're expected to know. Useful, but I much prefer the flash card app, on my iPod than this.

Very good book to study by themselves for N3.Each day you study a particular topic and all related expressions and kanjis.The translations in 3 languages do not leave much rooms to more examples or exercises. Some kanjis are unfortunately not transcribed in hiragana because it is assumed you know it already; this is a disadvantage for studying by themselves.In any case I would surely reccomend this book.

The somatome series is in general good but it is not enough to cover what you need for the jlpt test.For the test I recommend the Shin Kanzen Master Series together with drill books.

I have to agree with one of the other comments: the Kanji contained in this book together with the examples are helpful, but do not cover what is needed for the JLPT N3. I was a bit disappointed to encounter so many Kanji I didn't know. Since I bought the book specifically to study up on the Kanji required for the test, I can only give it one star. The money for the book is gone, and I failed the test.

It arrived sooner than expected. I truly recommend this book to people who study japanese on their own.
