Chemical-based hair color is not an option for many consumers: allergies, pregnancy, color-resistant hair, and sensitive scalps prevent many from using chemical colors. A new study linking chemical color to brain tumors and other health concerns is now impelling many former users to search for a viable alternative. Happily, there is an answer: AvigalHenna, the 100% natural hair colorant.

I am Pleased with Avigal Henna
These are the first few times I have ever used henna. I am going grey, and I've always used commercial dyes up until now. Since I found out I have cancer, I am trying to avoid chemicals, and henna is the only way to do that. Avigal has great directions enclosed in the cans. I just followed their times for keeping the henna on to process. I found their advice for filling in grey roots to be too complicated. Now I just mix up my Avigal champagne Henna and apply it here and there along the hair shaft with a flat artist's brush. Champagne is a subtle color, but I am happy with my results. I may someday widen out to include darker shades, but for now I'm pleased with this color. If you follow my direction in painting the henna on with a brush, please remember to stay 1-2 inches away from any roots when applying any color.

FAIL
Terrible. I purchased this based on other reviews, ratings and their claims. I've never used henna products before. I followed the directions exactly and had a nice smooth, well-mixed solution I then put on my hair. Here was what happened:Not enough for hair that is thick with length that is at my waist.Definitely did not add any color even though I have medium to light brown hair.VERY BAD- left TONS of grit in my hair and even after shampooing and conditioning about 4x, got out of the shower with a lot of sandy type grit all through my hair. I then proceeded to blow dry it. There was a lot of this brown dirty grit in my combs and brush and all over the floor. A day later I was still brushing grit out of my hair.My hair did not feel any softer than it did before. For me, for my length, type, color, this was a huge FAIL and waste of money, time and energy. If this is the "best" henna out there, I'm not using henna ever again. I'd give it a negative rating if I could.

FABULOUS!!!
Wonderful product! My hair is very long nearly to my knees. It is naturally a light brown but has gotten more white as the years have gone by. I normally liked to use a box brand of non permanent color as the permanent color is much to harsh and very drying. This product delivered on all accounts great natural looking color, easy to follow instructions, not drying to my hair. It was a bit longer to rinse from my hair than the other product I previously have used. I used olive oil in my mix, but because of the length of my hair would recommend the use of conditioner as I think it could make it easier to rinse. I am so pleased to find this product. I plan on making it the only color product I use from now on.

This henna mix turns the gray into gold which works much more nicely with my natural hair color (light brown)
Gorgeous color! I have a gray patch on top of my head but my coloring is warm - reddish autumn colors. This henna mix turns the gray into gold which works much more nicely with my natural hair color (light brown). The only thing I don't like is that the henna mix is loose in the canister. It would be fresher if it were sealed in a plastic bag.

Avigal Henna
I have been using Avigal Henna for more than 20 years. I have used a variety of shades, strawberry blond, champagne and copper, or a mixture of those to create my own shade. I get many compliments on my hair. It has been my favorite Henna brand. However, something has changed. My last order was gritty, which was unusual. But most importantly, the color didn't take after keeping the henna on my head for an hour, 30 minutes of that under a hair dryer! What the heck?!

did not work
This product did not color my hair, my roots or my grey. I have used from the same brand the Strawberry blond which is a beautiful red. That one was the best henna I have ever used, this one did not work at all for me though. Will go back to the Strawberry blond. If you want red hair, I highly recommend Henna, I have used the product for decades. It makes your hair beautiful and is 100% non toxic/natural.

Great Henna
Just remember henna is synonimous with the color "red". This was called champagne blonde but it did give my hair a pretty, light reddish tinge(i will try taupe next to try and lose the red). im very pleased with the conditioning effects, it looked and feels so healthy. Once dried it took a looong time to wash out though, which is typical for hennas on afr amer hair, i hear, but next time i will blow straight hair first before applying because dried mud mixture got trapped in hair making it very hard to wash out. I will be buying this product in 17oz next time because i needed approx 6oz for long, very thick hair. Overall I loved this henna.

Customer for life.
Lasts forever, months and months. Leaves a rich, beautiful, unique yet natural looking color. My hair has a ton of body, shine and definition when I use it. Tip: mix with lemon instead of hot water for a richer, less brassy color. It releases the dye without burning it. Wash with conditioner after to get rid of the henna flakes. The recipe I use to make a thick but workable paste is 9 tsp henna powder, 1/2 cup DI water, 1/2 cup lemon juice. The color always comes out a bit oranger than it will be right after application. It will oxidize to the correct color within 1-2 days after.
