Sun Cast Iron Fireback, Black

This does exactly what it says. It makes your fireplace look good and improves heat radiation from the back of the fireplace box. I was so skeptical about this but have been proven wrong. Quality craftsmanship and fit. We did not get the stand but purchased about four fireplace bricks and put the thing on top—works very well.

It looks great in my fireplace, it does exactly what it should. It radiates heat back out into the room. I debated for a long time before buying, but so glad I did

I have had a fireback in another home and needed one here also.I don't know how our postal lady lifted it! It is so thick and heavy and will hold up for years to come. Save my fire place bricks!What I was startled about is how beautiful it is. We got the sunburst...and it is beautiful.Excellent....Thank you.

Puts out a reasonable amount of heat with my vented gas logs. Definitely helped. Love the way it looks, I've got it resting against the back of the fireplace, but will put feet on it to raise it up just a bit. Here's the thing, based on my experience and a bunch of other comments, there's a good chance the nose will come with finish rubbed off. Mine was technically used, and I just put some soot on it and called it a day. The seller's really need to a fix some padding over the nose given the number of people who have had this happen. Otherwise, I like it a lot.

Very nice weight, appears to be of high quality. Nice-looking as well. Overall, very happy with this purchase, and would definitely buy again.

Purchasing:It took a total of three orders to finally complete this purchase. One through an Amazon reseller that wouldn't honor the posted price (Unbeatablesale.com), the second through Amazon, but with a 2-3 month fulfillment window, and lastly one through an Amazon reseller (Price Pros) with Amazon customer service providing a credit for the price difference between reseller price and the unit that would have taken Amazon months to deliver. Once again, Amazon customer service comes through in the end.Product:This is a substantial piece of cast iron (53 lbs.) that fit perfectly into an 18" high by 36" wide fireplace. It's also perfectly sized for my 24" long Peterson (RealFyre) gas logs. The fireback was installed leaning directly against the rear firebrick wall without fireback feet, which would have positioned the top arch of the unit above the fireplace opening.Performance:The grate, burner sand, lava gravel and burning embers were all refreshed or replaced after the fireback was placed behind them. The logs were repositioned to allow the raised sun image to peer through the fire. This unit now radiates heat 8-10 feet into my family room, which is roughly two times as far as the previous setup without a fireback.

It's fantastic! The sunburst fireback is a little less than 24 inches wide. I needed it to stand straight up with a possible forward tilt so I ordered feet from another vendor that are made for that purpose. The nose wears through the shipping box and I was worried about damage but it was fine, no damage at all. In the fireplace, it's beautiful. It collects a little ash, as is expected, so I brush it off when the fire is cold and I'm cleaning out the ash. The reflected heat is nice and the look is amazing.
