NOT WOOL - IS WASHABLE 80% acrylic- 20% polyester
This review is for the Tough 1 ITEM 35-7840 Wool Sierra Saddle Blanket tan & black striped. Made in India, Actually SYNTHETIC 80% acrylic- 20% polyester. NOT NATURAL WOOL- Great for decorating, dust covers over saddle, rifles, car seats when stored. Synthetic fabric will not mold as easily, and is very durable. Not good for a horses' back, (course weave will grind horse's back with weight of saddle & rider unlike NATURAL wool which will not fully compress and breathes - allowing much better circulation for horse's back)As soon as they arrived I washed 3 blankets 4 times - on heavy setting - warm/warm & hot/warm temperature and heavy soil - longest duration - Spin was set to medium. Detergent used was All unscented and All unscented fabric softener. Then into the dryer on 'Normal' setting - which is medium heat- until dry. THEY ARE VERY SOFT, NO DISTORTION OR DAMAGE. I am using 2 of them in my living room folded over the leather arms of my sofa & the other as a throw.

Not just a saddle blanket
I use these thinner blankets as table runners, rugs and in place of foam pads in a window seat in my ranch home.

Love these blankets
Great colors and heft for use as rugs. Hold their shape after washing. Especially good if used in a ranch or the neo-misson-moderne-stucco ubiquitous to the desert southwest. My only complaint is that the hems on either end are carelessly sewn leading to unraveling if not (easily) resewn after cleaning or vigorous snapping outside - but they are only $25 bucks and handwoven! Good gifts. Judicious use is advised: A great accent to a plank or saltillo floor, it can go 'dude ranch' in a heartbeat. I use them in front of the BR vanities at home and as covers for the 5th wheel recliners. BTW, other reviews here question their fabric content. I don't care - they look great, are durable, and a steal at $25 bucks.

Made of carcinogens, not wool
Normally, Weaver has fairly good products. Unfortunately, this isn’t one of them.It arrived quickly, but I was disturbed to open the box to what smelled like the basement of a sketchy chemical plant.Upon taking it out of the bag, I noticed it was full of pulled fibers, leaving unsightly pills on the surface. To the touch, it was rough, scratchy, and lumpy. The bag it was in stated “Made in India- Polyester Acrylic Blend”I looked for some fine print to see how to wash it to get rid of that awful stench.... only to find in teeny tiny print, “WARNING: Cancer” with a link to the p65warnings site.Imagine my surprise upon finding out this supposedly 5* saddle blanket, of which I was going to put on a dearly loved horse, was made of multiple known carcinogens! After only a few seconds of handling it, I started feeling itchy and congested.Negative effects of the materials are undoubtedly obvious.Save your money and get a proper wool blanket. Getting this one will cost you $25 in purchase, hundreds in vet bills, and, depending on how long it lasts and how much you use it, quite possibly a few thousand in medical bills. To Weaver, I must say I’m disappointed. At the very least be honest about the materials used!

Nice blanket, but it does NOT contain any wool.
Just received this blanket in lime/black. The colors are nice and bright and go perfectly with the decor in the room for which I bought this blanket. However, this blanket has no wool. The label on the blanket reads "80% acrylic, 20% polyester." The label also indicates that the blanket is woven in India in case anyone wants or needs to know that. The blanket is well made, is thick and kind of stiff (almost like a throw rug rather than a blanket), and I have no doubt it will last. There are no washing instructions on the label or package, but I am assuming it can probably be machine washed and dried based on the given fabric contents. Amazon needs to change the title and description to remove the word "wool" because this item contains absolutely no wool.

Pretty, but thin
The color was very pretty -- a bit darker than it looked in the picture (and it didn't have the red highlights, which was a little disappointing), but pretty nonetheless. It is very thin, however, so don't expect it to offer any type of padding for your horse. It would be good to put over another pad to add some color/protect your nice, expensive saddle pad from wear and dirt. But it doesn't look or feel like it would last very long under any real use. Then again, I never planned to use it on my horse (it was for a craft project), so I haven't tested it personally.

Nice saddle blanket
Nice saddle pad, it's however folded in half and way too big if you unfold it.Not actual wool, but for the price I'm not complaining. I've had it for a month now and it's still looking greatAlso it was not teal as expected, it's kinda green ish irl.

Good deal for the price!
For the price, you can't go wrong here! This is at least $30 cheaper than the cheapest saddle blankets I've found in store, and is just what I needed. The blanket doesn't provide actual padding, mostly just a protective layer between horse and saddle, but it does that job well. It's a bit shorter than I would ideally want, but still fits fine under a 16" trail saddle.

Excellent product
I really like this item. It is good quality. I don’t use it for a horse, I use it in the back seat of my suv. It looks beautiful and fits perfectly. I washed it and it still looks great. Would really recommend.
