Classic Italian Wood Stick Umbrella

The “Classic Italian Wood Stick Umbrella” is an excellent value purchase for anyone searching for a classic English-style umbrella. I started looking for a traditional English-style, non-telescoping umbrella after my old telescoping one had broken. An umbrella like this is for a style-conscious person who will be taking short walking trips between destinations. It is best used in urban or campus settings, rather than extended outdoor use or severe weather. Since it cannot collapse, the user will be carrying it in the open for everyone to see. Plaid is a traditional English pattern, and this style does a great job of standing out among the typical black canopies most people purchase. Since many similar English-style umbrellas, such as London Underground, are quite pricey, this one is a great deal in comparison. While it is not a replacement for the more expensive umbrellas, it is a good first venture into this style of umbrella, especially for someone who is used to passively purchasing cheap telescoping umbrellas at the corner store after losing or breaking the last one. The Umbrella measures 46 inches from the ferrule (top) to the bottom of the handle, and the canopy opens 50 inches wide. As shown in the pictures, the plaid is a Blackwatch pattern. It can also be purchased in Glen Plaid and grey Herringbone for a subtler pattern. The handle, shaft, and end are made of the same wood, while the tip cup and ferrule are made of a dark metal that adds to the quality appearance of this umbrella. The button to open the umbrella looks like a cufflink, finished in gloss black with gold-painted edges. Most of the folding mechanism is made of plastic, with metal tips at the end of the ribs. Keep in mind that this umbrella is manufactured in China, and distributed by Costco. The only changes I would make to this umbrella would be an auto-close future, and that the canopy be flatter when open. It has not rained since I have received the umbrella, but I am already content with the umbrella’s appearance, quality, and value. I will have to reflect on its rain-repelling ability after it storms this week, but if you are looking for a vintage-appearing umbrella for an excellent value, this is an umbrella you should have on hand for those rainy days. Eventually, I will most likely purchase a similar but more expensive replacement, and keep this one as a spare or stylistic accessory in one of my classic cars.

This is a beautiful umbrella, and I have never used that description on an umbrella before, but this one takes the cake. The packaging was perfect. Although the color says black, it is actually a dark grey color, which goes great with the deep color of the handle and the pattern. It has rained recently, and it kept me dry and dried quickly. This umbrella is awesome!

This umbrella is soft and feels fancy for the price paid. While I recommend it, it's not a super solid wooden umbrella. You very much get what you pay for, but for what you DO pay... I feel like it's a good value.It's just fun to hold. It also comes in fancy packaging. It's just plastic and cardboard, but it looks nice.
