Good safety light for the stairs or dark hallways where you do not want constant light.
Each of these take 3 AA batteries. They have a good amount of light output and are also dependant on ambient light before being triggered. They do not "talk to each other", they are triggered to turn on as it see's motion. They stay on for about 20 seconds or so once the fault has cleared. My small Sphynx cat's trigger them while wandering by on the stairs. The color output of these seems to be around 5000K (Daylight White).I would buy these again, but feel that they should probably be cheaper, and/or smaller with color options. I would like a satin nickel version that was smaller and used AAA batteries instead with adjustment knobs on it so I can turn the sensitivity down as well as the timeout.EDIT: For some reason the picture of this product is completely different that what I bought. The product description is also different than when I originally purchased it. Therefor, please disregard my review of this product. as it's no longer accurate.

No more stumbling up the stairs in the dark!
These things are GREAT! We've already ordered (and received) another set. They make it possible to navigate a back stairway with landing that is VERY dark if you forget to turn on the lights! The switch for the stairway lights is in an awkward position, quite a ways from the stairs themselves, so we often do forget to turn them on. Now we don't need to stumble up the steps in the dark! And we love the way the lights come on in sequence going up the stairs. The first set has been in place for several months now, and we see no dimming from the batteries running down. Time will tell, but since it's so easy to change the batteries when they eventually lose power, we aren't concerned about it.Highly recommended!

works surprisingly well
the sensor on these things work surprisingly well. it only activates at night, even tho my hall way doesn't regularly get much light throughout the day, the sensor knows not to activate the light during the day even in the dark hallway.the range and angle of the sensor is also very good. honestly this is the best hallway night light i've come across.now i don't have to step on my dog at night.

They were easy to install
We moved into an old farm house with a very dark, wooden staircase with a landing in the middle. These L-shaped are almost impossible to see at nighttime without some light. I therefore set out on amazon to find a solution. I found these motion activated lights, which come in a set of three, and purchased them. I am, by nature, a skeptical consumer. However, I was pleasantly surprised by them. They were easy to install. Work efficiently and effectively and have completely remedied the issue. I am pleased. If you need a lighting solution in an area that is missing lights or a place where you don't want lots of light at night, these lights are perfect.

A huge safety upgrade
I received all motion sensor models but can't complain. These do a great job of lighting my stairs. The house had wood floors and everyone has missed the bottom stair at some point. With these new lights it will never happen again. They went up easy and cover quite a bit of area. 3 lights more that sufficiently light a standard stairwell. A quick tip is to mount the lights higher to have them better detect motion.I was worried that they would look awful, but after a few days they really blend in. In my home they are mounted on a white wall, so your mileage may vary.

I like them so much I just bought an extra set.
I bought a set about a month ago and they are about the best safety item I have installed in my house. They work great, were easy to install, and I couldn't be happier. The installation instructions only mentioned using sticky tape but I used the pre-drilled holes to mount with screws.Unlike one of the main reviews, mine work independently from each other. That makes them easy to install or replace, if necessary. Because they have become a necessary part of our house safety, I just ordered a spare set, in case they become discontinued.

Easy to install but do read posts prior to installing
There is an order these need to be installed and best to test them prior to installation. This info is not available in the directions. One has a motion sensor that activates they other 3. My family loves them so much they have asked me to order more for the upstairs, not just the basement stairs.UPDATE: Both sets of new ones came with motion sensors, if for some reason yours do not, place them where you want. Unscrew from the casement which should remain on wall and try a different configuration. To remove once applied can ruin your paint or wall paper.
