Asterix und die Wikinger

At first glance, this title looks quite impressive. The characters are all drawn competently, the animation is smooth.. etc. So, animation team, good job. But... Well, the first thing you'll probably notice is the lack of luster. The animation is all very clean looking, yeah, and maybe even Disney quality, but... to put it bluntly: the Gauls act like caricatures of themselves. Most notable with Getty, he seems completely uninterested in the goings-ons, and notably zonked out most of the time. Rather than appearing as a paragon of wisdom, he mostly just seems like an old, distracted, etc, man.A & 0 in particular, as the leading folks here, are not likeably done. Anyone not familiar with the material probably won't think so. But the... hmm, mystique of their characters is quite torn away, leaving Obelix sounding mostly like Balou the Bear, and Asterix a bit like one of those Disney Dogs. That's the other thing, the magic, as it were, is really underplayed here. I guess the producers have been phasing it out gradually, but I remember fondly the implausible story of the 12 tasks of asterix, that while... unrealistic, was hugely entertaining due to the surreality of it all. The last line in that film is "well, obelix, it's a cartoon movie, so anything is possible." Which whoever made asterix and `vikings' (the actual book title is the normans- vikings is a boast of prowess in Engtin) has doubtlessly forgotten. What they have remembered instead is a rather formulaic hollywood-esque storyline. Boy arrives to learn about manhood, boy gets nabbed by baddies, rescue ensues, boy eventually finds bravery. At least Justforkix is somewhat engaging. Got a little life to him. It is actually a movie mostly about him. Which is... well, different. Furthermore, while the music isn't as terrible as other reviewers have claimed, it is a little... I dunno, jarring, unfamiliar, plastic? The rendition of `eye of the tiger' in particular seems somewhat like a flat parody.So, although some of the Gaulish pride that makes that whole tribe loveable gleams through, mostly the movie watches like a reinterpretation of the classics that misses many of the points. A lot of hard work doubtlessly went into this production. But when the enemy crests the ridge, you don't offer them congratulations for capturing your town. Even if their guns are shiny. You still have to shoot them. Uh, metaphorically. Maybe over their heads.EDIT: Okay, so the closing credit song is pretty dang good. Gets another star.

I am happy that they came with a more updated quality video image of Asterix and Obelix, however, I felt the story lack of originality, I felt bored at some moment and sometimes felt like it wasn't humoristic as it used to be, not the typical Asterix and Obelix stories I used to read or watch when I was a kid. Also the voices of Asterix and Obelix are different, I guess the original people who give their voices to the characters are no longer around.

I have read the comics of Asterix and loved it.This film captures all the charm of the comics with a great cast of actors.The animation is of a Disney quality and really makes you desire more movies like this with this collective of actors reprising the roles.Really I can't recommend this film enough and believe people should sit down and give this a watch and the will not be dissapointed by it.

I watched this cartoon as a child constanly... watching it again brings back so ma y memories

Great fun for all Asretix fans. The story line has been altered from the book with our gallant heros traveling up to the land of the Norsemen. I did miss some of the in jokes Time and a Half for example.

French Animation is under rated, this movie is funny, and entertaining, the only problem is the kids want to watch it 3x's a day

Nachdem wir alle filmischen Umsetzungen der Asterix Comics gesehen haben, kann man nur sagen, dass dies der schlechteste Film ist. Bezüge zu dem unglaublich guten Comic " Asterix und die Normannen" sind nur rudimentär. Wie ist es nur möglich aus so einen guten Comic, so einen schlechten Film zu machen. Einfach nur enttäuschend.

Sehr schöner Film,sehe ich heut zutage auch noch gern. Meine Kinder waren früher immer begeistert davon.Alles gut hingehauen Lieferung auch sehr schnell.

Du point de vue de l'animation, Astérix et les Vikings est certainement le meilleur de la série. Le graphisme est très travaillé, l'animation est dynamique, très bien soutenue par la musique et l'on est loin du style statique et un peu ennuyeux des premiers essais. Les décors sont superbes et changent des plans fixes des anciens dessins animés des Studios Idéfix.Le scénario s'inspire de l'album Astérix et les Normands, mais contrairement à ce dernier qui se passe entièrement en Armorique, ici on envoie les héros en Scandinavie rechercher Goudurix capturé par les terribles Vikings qui espèrent apprendre à voler en découvrant la peur. Certains s'offusqueront de ce changement, mais je ne suis pas sûr que l'album original aurait eu assez de matière pour en faire un long métrage.Le personnage féminin rajouté (Abba, doublage par Sara Forestier un poil criard) ramène l'histoire sur le terrain de Disney, mais n'est pas désagréable. L'univers nordique développé pour le film est très réussi graphiquement et semble avoir inspiré les auteurs de Walhalla tome 1.Le doublage est très réussi: Lorànt Deutsch est excellent dans le rôle de Goudurix. Jacques Frantz qui remplace Pierre Tornade est bien meilleur dans la voix d'Obélix dont le personnage a évolué en mieux (beaucoup plus vivant et moins benet).Les puristes tiqueront sur la musique (M. Pokora, Amel Bent dans Eye Of The Tiger, et... C'line Dion!), mais ce film étant destiné avant tout aux enfants, je pense qu'ils s'en fichent royalement.Le film est une production franco-danoise, et bien qu'un peu moins fidèle qu'Astérix chez les Bretons à l'oeuvre de Goscinny-Uderzo, il est techniquement beaucoup plus abouti et reste un divertissement de très bonne qualité pour les mômes (et pour les grands enfants).

TRÈS BON DIVERTISSEMENT!!!!!Le petit village gaulois accueille Goudurix neveu du chef,Astérix et Obélix sont chargés d'en faire un homme mais sous son arrogance l'ado arrivant de Lutèce est un gros froussard ;l'entrainement de choc subi ne change pas grand chose..Les vikings débarquent en Gaule;ils veulent un champion de la peur;leur mage leur à promis qu'ils pourraient voler puisque selon lui la peur donne des ailes......A.u niveau de l'animation .C'est un des meilleurs,le graphisme très travaillé,l'animation dynamique très bien soutenue par la musique.Le style statique et ennuyeux des premiers essais est loin ,les décors sont superbes ,cela changent des plans fixes des anciens dessins animésOn se retrouve en Scandinavie pour rechercher Goudurix capturé par les vikings qui espérant apprendre à voler en découvrant la peur.L'univers nordique développé pour le film est très réussi.Doublage réussi;Lorant Deutsch excellent dans le rôle de Goudurix.Pierre TORNADE EST BIEN meilleur dans le doublage d'Obélix dont le personnage évolue mieux ,beaucoup plus vivant moins benêt.Film abouti ,reste un diversement de qualité pour tous les enfants et "les grands enfantsOn ne se lasse pas des aventures d'Astérix et obélix version moderne très sympathique.CELA fait passer un très bon moment de détente."ILS SONT TOUJOURS AUSSI FOUS CES GAULOIS"!!!!!!!
