Gives details on hypertension from a scientific as well as yogic perspectives that can lead to a paradigm shift in your approach towards hypertension. This book talks about not only using yoga to reduce hypertension while on pills but to gradually reduce the pills and to eventually stop them provided u follow instructions prepared. There is a dedicated section I'm the end listing all the exercises based on modules that can be taken up from severe weeks to months with gradual increase in intensity. Excellant
As with all the books I have purchased from the Bihar School of Yoga, this is well written, well researched and clearly laid out. I did buy it because I practice yoga but also I'm very much about empowering the self and taking responsibility. Too many people rely on an overstretched national health system whereas some common sense approach to life - taking medical advice where necessary would be a positive move all round. It does look briefly at other systems than yoga but even to a non-yogi what this book offers is not onerous and may even lead to a new way of looking at life. There's a lot of yoga books on the market and to the uninitiated it can be quite confusing. The Bihar School have produced many books over the years which I've used as a student and teacher and I've always found that while they expound the virtues of yoga they do not steer away from recommending medical advice where it is necessary and always recommend guidance and teaching to anyone starting out in yoga. Again - just common sense!

Greater Knowledge
Those suffering from Hypertension and its effects should study this book. Coming from a great source, the Bihar School of Yoga, and its great history of accredited doctors ie. Sivananda, Satyananda and many more, you are most likely to find some relief within this book. The author discusses, indepth, the scientific and medical causes of how Hypertension occurs, what feeds the problem and how the physical brain, the mind and body respond in such a state of crisis; and gives you (for those who need scientific proof) biographies throughout to put you at ease. As the text progresses the infinate system of Yoga is introduced and the reader is educated on how to overcome this disease with these marvelous techniques. Being a sufferer of Hypertension for many years, I can honestly say how these books and the information contained within has completely changed me for good. I no longer suffer from asthma, from horible digestion and from the depression that has held me in their grip for so long. You will not get the supposed dogmatic practices said to accompany Yoga, but a system that can get you to the root of the cause and change the way you live for better. Enjoy.

The chapter on Yoga Nigra is an excellent introduction as to how yoga can offer complete relaxation
Not only advice about treating hypertension with yoga, this book provides an explanation as to how the the yoga postures reach out to every body cell. This is information not availble on yoga courses and which most of us have been looking for since starting practise. The chapter on Yoga Nigra is an excellent introduction as to how yoga can offer complete relaxation. No need now to bother about looking for books on how yoga works; this one says it all!
