Coloratura Arias for Soprano - Complete Package Book/Online Audio (G. Schirmer Opera Anthology)

My daughter is studying opera and this book is very helpful.

Product is fine, except one of the Diction CDs will not play at all and there is no way for me to contact the seller.

I sing with a private tutor and needed a coloratura book of my own. I have always found this collection of books reliable, so it works.

Purchased this for my daughter who is currently a vocal performance major at University of Nebraska and it contains one of her assigned arias, Tornami a vagheggiar by Handel as well as several arias that she hasn't studied.. Thought I'd get the "complete package" which contains CD's of both accompaniment and diction. The "package" includes six CD's, three each of accompaniment and diction. The first one I pulled out was diction and initially I thought the pronunciation was very clear and spoken with very obvious Italian inflection. About half way through the aria it suddenly switched to something else which I can only assume was another role in the opera or maybe another aria completely. In any case the diction example did not include the entire aria. Disappointed I switched to the accompaniment CD.. The CD started oddly and abut two measures into the accompaniment it began to skip. I checked the CD and there were some very small rub marks on the surface. I tried several times with two CD players and could never get it to play. So much for spending the extra for the "complete package" Two thumbs down on this one. I gave it two stars because the book by itself is useful.

Large selection of pieces, which can be hard to find, including english translations where needed and synopses of the operas,. It would be great if they also had a CD with vocal parts--for some of us beginners, it's helpful to hear it sung as well as having the accompaniment. A small complaint is that the organization is bewildering, with pieces listed in the TOC alphabetically by opera (not by order of appearance in the book), then grouped in the notes by language, and finally the sheet music itself in an order whose criteria I couldn't identify (if it was by difficulty, it would be good to know). Like all the Hal Leonard Vocal Library books, this is an excellent, well edited resource for teachers, students and professional singers alike.

Acabo de abrir el paquete para comprobar que todo estaba correcto. Está bien la idea del compendio para estudiar pero, por lo que he comprobado por encima, el arreglo del acompañamiento de piano de las partituras de algunas arias no me satisfacen mucho.
