Battery life down to one day idle after last update.
The watch worked great at first and I loved the battery life. Now I'm three months in to ownership and it's having serious issues. It used to find a GPS lock instantly, now it takes 30 seconds to TWENTY MINUTES. This is after doing resets to make sure there aren't temporary problems. It also used to get a solid week of idle battery like with 20+ hours of activities, now I only get ONE DAY of idling and maybe ten hours in an activity mode. It's absolutely unacceptable. This is my second Suunto product. When you first get these devices they seem great. But the hardware and software quality leaves a lot to be desired. My next purchase will be a Garmin.I log one exercise every day, and due to unreliability issues with Suunto I'm unable to do this. I'm incredibly disappointed.Edit - Dropped to 1 star. GPS issue persisted and now it has bluetooth connectivity issues. Bluetooth with crash and I can't bring it back until a hard reset that wipes activity data. Garbage-tier watch. You save money vs Garmin, but it's not worth it at all.

Great watch.
After owning the Suunto Ambit 2 for around 5 and a half years I thought it was time for an upgrade. The Ambit 2 still works perfectly fine incidentally and has served me well, having zero issues. It also still holds a decent charge too.The Suunto 9 is an awesome watch. Easy to set up, syncs run on my Android phone via bluetooth fine and connects to my computer and syncs to Movescount perfectly. GPS is accurate as long as it's taking readings every second, which is what I use for running. I tested a couple of walks with GPS readings every 10 seconds and that perfectly fine too but if you're running it would have been off, especially as I run quite quick. I can only think that people who say the GPS is very inaccurate have got it set on taking readings every 10 secs or 60 seconds, which gives great battery life but doesn't give as accurate GPS data. You configure all the settings via Movescount.com, which is what I did as soon as I got it, creating my own custom running workout.I wore the watch casually and was using it for running and still got about 2 weeks of use from it which is brilliant. Still had about 18% left so probably could have squeezed a bit more too. Bought a few straps from Amazon too and they're a doddle to change thanks to the quick release mechanism. One criticism if I were to be really picky would be the wrist HR monitor. It's not massively accurate and take it with a pinch of salt but I do use it and I'm glad it's there as it gives you a rough guide and I'm not a fan of the chest HR monitors. All in all an amazing watch. I will always use Suunto as I never have any issues with them and the battery life of their watches is years ahead of other brands. Highly recommended.

I love this watch
I've had the watch for a month now. I bought it as an upgrade from the Ambit 2S.-GPS has mostly been great. Had the odd time if started off saying my altitude was 100m or so higher than it was, but that quickly settles out after a minute or two.-Battery life is insanely good. Love the option to optimise battery life too.-HR seems to over estimate but only by about 4-5 bpm which I can live with. It works better if I really strap the watch down tight which is OK for when I'm working out.-Following routes is good for cycling in the mountains in Taiwan. Not great for in the city but that's to be expected.-I like being able to create routes using the APP, but the route creator doesn't work as well as the one in strava.Overall it's a fantastic buy.

Rubbish apps
The basic functions such as distance, time, etc work fine, and the watch is generally robust. However the apps that go with the Suunto 9 are very very poor and I’d suggest you go for an alternative such as a Garmin. I’m relatively tech savvy but trying to download a route from Movescount (can’t be done from the Suunto app) is ridiculously difficult. Very disappointing.

Suunto , big and beautiful!
Love this watch ! Been with garmin for a fewYears , recently switched to COROS but watch was a little dainty for me. I like a chunky watch, had a Spartan years ago so liked the look of the 9. Touch screen is way more responsive than the Spartan , nice additional features .including sleep tracking. Brilliant battery life and all together a nice package. Plus for some reason it was really well priced here around £70 less expensive than other vendors. Definitely recommend.
