Nelson's West Indian Readers First Primer (New West Indian Readers)

As a homeschooling mom originally from Trinidad, these are exactly what I’ve been wanting for my kids. Other books are so disappointing—too many big words and some hard to pronounce for new readers. I’m so glad to have found these! I only wish I’d known sooner that they were available on Amazon!

Bought this for my toddler ,as a kid growing up in the Caribbean we read this book in school and now it's available in a series ,my toddler loves it already.

I learned to read with this book and so has all my children a great start in early education would recommend

I grew up using West Indian Reader as a kindergarten kid learning to read. Over the years I became a ferocious reader. To this day I love to read. I bought these books for my grand-kids to come to learn to read.

It is what i expected..very good book.. for my kids

Sad to see this now bearing Oxford markings and not the Nelson West Indian Readers that we used to know. Every trinbagonian child learned to read by the age of 5 using this! It brings back memories.Happy that I can easily obtain a copy of Amazon.

This was the book, over 70 years ago, that I learned to read. I wanted to introduce it to my grandson in the hopes that it will improve his reading ability.The only drawbacks are the references to West Indian culture which is difficult for North American children to understand.

This product is brilliant. I used it with my daughter to fill the huge void in the current school system. Now she is learning to read the way we did!

I have used this book as a preschooler, and still use it with my children. Has helped my son immensely with his reading. He has been reading since he was 3. I am also a teacher by profession and highly recommend they use this book in all preschools.

Just perfect for teaching young minds.
