Usable length is 31 + 1/16"
Took a gamble on this because the usable length isn't listed anywhere. From the threaded end to the handle is just over 31" with no jag installed. With a loading Jag installed, it was the perfect size for my 32" Traditions barrel.Overall this thing is hefty. Not much bend, very heavy and very strong. Perfect for a range rod. You COULD pack this as it does unthread into 4 pieces. 3 rod ends and the handle. That being said, it would be a considerable amount of weight and probably is best used as a range rod or loading rod as you go into the field.

A great tool for cleaning a muzzleloader
You wouldn't pack this heavy brass rod on a hunt, but it may be worth the weight. It is priceless for cleaning a muzzleloader's bore during a prolonged range session.

Very solid, well built and weighted
Like the extra weight in the handle and the fact it is brass, wobbles at the sections but nothing Teflon tape and super glue can’t fix

This truly is a lifetime range rod for black powder shooters
This truly is a lifetime range rod for black powder shooters, but you have to buy 2 for long muskets!!! It is a shame that they don't have a 4 rod offering, because 3 rod sections are too short for Penna. and Kentucky long rifles with 40 inch barrels. You have to purchase a second set. You only use the middle section of the second set. The end rod is a good spare if you damage the threads on the main rod. The extra handle doesn't have much use, unless you make a T-bracket for it, which I do recommend. That way you can hook the T handle to an overhead joist at your rifle range to pull a stuck ball out of the barrel, which is the safest way to do that.

Great Product
I wish I would have known about Range Rods a long time ago. Makes the job easier ,yes, at the firing range. Much sturdier than ramrod associated with your muzzleloader. Camevin very handy when loading lead minibars in your sidelock or flintlock. I like it so much I pack it when hunting with my sidelock.
