Not so great IMO
Firstly, I find it rather interesting to see that of the 14 five star ratings only one is a Verified Amazon Purchase. What's up with that? Did they all get free copies of the book?I first heard of Dr. Pho on the Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Man "Jimmy Moore" show. After hearing Dr. Pho I thought I'd buy his book and see what else he had to say.I may be too critical but I found the book to be very repetitive. Also the phrase "I believe" got to be rather annoying. Again, Atkins was misspelled Adkins numerous times. OK, I'm no English major either. As far as any earth shattering information, I didn't see it, especially if you've been eating a low carb lifestyle for a while. No doubt, Dr. Pho is very knowledgeable but his book at least to me, just doesn't cut it to a five star rating. He "believes", Reversing Type 2 diabetes simply by increasing the amount of Vitamin D in your blood? Yes, I know many people are deficient in Vitamin D but there may be a need to rethink this one. As with everything in life there usually two schools of thought. Some "experts" "believe" that vitamin D especially in pill form may actually be bad for your health without Vitamin K2.Honestly, there are better books that are a "knock you to the back of your head" types, like, "Primal Body, Primal Mind: Beyond the Paleo Diet for Total Health and a Longer Life", by Nora T. Gedgaudas.I've since resold my book through Amazon...

No Population Studies to support conclusions...
The book harps on a balance diet but does not offer any population studies of societies who maintain a 35% ration of all macronutrients (protein, fat, and carbs). Blue Zone populations (Okinawan's, Seven Day Adventist, and Sardininas) all have diets high in carbs and low in protein, and fat (saturated fat). These populations have the highest populations of centenarians (people living to be over 100).

Nutritional Health Truth Bombs Galore In This Book
Have you ever learned something that goes against everything you've believed about it for your entire life and remember what that felt like? Well, it's about to happen again after you read HEALTH AND VITALITY TRUTHS: TO KNOW AND TELL by Dr. Luan Q. Pho. This internal medicine physician realizes that the general public has far too many preconceived ideas about what being "healthy" is all about. But he drops some big time nutritional health truth bombs that will rock your world and send your head spinning with compelling evidence to support such ideas like:- Reversing Type 2 diabetes simply by increasing the amount of Vitamin D in your blood- Limiting your consumption of carbohydrates to preserve so many aspects of your health controlled by insulin- Moderate your consumption of protein insuring you have ample for bodily functions, but not too much- Embracing fat consumption instead of a low-fat diet will make you healthier and ward off disease- Why the USDA's Dietary Guidelines are a horrible way to be feeding yourself and leads to more illness- How the heavy promotion of grain-based foods as "healthy" has more to do with money than your health- Why eating an Atkins-styled low-carb, high-fat diet is much better than the heavily-promoted high-carb, low-fat diet- Not all calories are the same...some are worse for you than others- De-stressing your life will do more to improve your health than just about anything outside of diet- Weight loss and optimal health can be effortless by making one very simple but important change in your diet- Diseases like cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer's can be prevented and cured if the focus is put on the real solutionThere's so much information in this book that will rock your world that I cannot recommend it highly enough! READ THE BOOK and embrace the concepts you learn about--if you dare!

Tough but good
In the interest of full disclosure, Dr. Pho is my PC. He has been extremely helpful to me as he has worked to bring my body into "homeostasis." I have found his book very helpful, but one will need to be very committed to his/her health to work through the book. A revision should include a certain amount of "popularization" to induce more people to read it. It is difficult reading, but well worth the effort.

A good addition to my archevore library.
Well written. A good point of reference. What a pity there is no index. I hope the author will make it available to download as a PDF.
