Since you can no longer buy these from husqvarna, I suppose this is better than nothing. This one seems like it will work. There are several reasons I am giving it 3 stars:1) There is no spark arrestor. I'm pretty sure the original muffler had one. This may make your saw non-code compliant in certain areas, where spark arrestors may be required by law.2)I received the first unit, and the center insert was damaged/defective, making the through-bolts not line up. The front and back pieces were also already pressed together, so I had to forcefully pry it open to get the center insert out. I returned this unit for an exchange. The second unit I received had the same exact issue of the insert being damaged and the through-bolts not aligning. I ended up bending the piece to make it work. I understand that issues in QC happen, but really, the same issue with two units going to the same person?3)I knew it didn't come with a backplate when I ordered it. I was able to find one (the original part) on another site. Amazon didn't have any available. But what I'm getting at is that the OEM backplate and the muffler don't align quite right. I was able to bend the plate a little to make it work, but the air port on the muffler doesn't quite line up with the little slot on the backplate. This part may need to be cut off before I am able to fit it on my saw. I feel like I'm nit-picking with this last complaint, but it's a small detail that may end up being problematic if it makes the backplate not fit on my saw.Overall, it's a muffler, it's simple, and I think it will serve its purpose. I'd rather have an OEM part, but they don't make them anymore, so you can only get what you can get, right?

Works fine on my Husqvarna 142. The longer bolts take a 5mm metric hex head wrench to tighten versus the Torx drive of the original muffler bolts. The fit into the existing back plate is a little tight, but does work. The inside piece can go 4 ways. There were no instructions, but figured out that the inside piece is placed with the set of 6 holes facing up and away from the body of the chainsaw. Put everything together first with the gasket between the muffler and back plate. The bolts will hold the gasket in place. Tightened the 2 bolts down and works fine, sounds as quiet as the old one. I think it's a better design than the original with the longer bolts. You don't have to remove the bolt cover to tighten the bolts. It also eliminates the 2 ferrule tubes. seems very durable. Just like the old bolts, get in the habit of tightening them every time you add gas or every other time. I'll purchase again when my other 142 needs replacement. Would give it 5 stars, except no instructions and the tight fit with the back plate.

The bolts are too short ...almost 1/4" shorter than original bolts. Can't tighten them. Lost one old bolt so can't reuse fully. Used the one old bolt to tighten. Without that, this muffler is useless. Besides the bolts, the rest was acceptable.

got the first one, the screw wouldn't go in the hole - it was so bad we decided to ask for a replacement. Second one - same issue, not quite as bad. We took a punch and knocked the metal into a circle so the bolt would insert. So - better than nothing.

Seriously???? They send the muffler bolts in different lengths? The short one doesn't even extend thru the muffler! What a joke! The only reason I didn't send it back, I needed it, so I spend $6 to buy bolts and washers. Not a good deal at all!

Comes complete with everything needed for exhaust. Fit my 41 Husqvarna perfectly

Not a good replacement for OEM part. Not even close...seems the part is a used one and cheaply made...but the box says new! Also chain saw is lot noisier than before. Returning for a refund.

Makes saw a bit louder so I'm sure the tree huggers hate it.
