Dogtra vs Sportdog...LOL
Okay, my title was intended to be funny by indicating that I am suggesting a COMPLETELY LUDICROUS comparison. I have had a crappy sportdog collar for years that really failed almost from the beginning. If you are considering Sportdog, please, PLEASE, stop yourself right now. I recently bit the bullet and ordered this Dogtra set hoping it would be better than the Sportgog collar and it is not only better, it is in a completely different league. Comparing Dogtra to Sportdog would be tantamount to comparing Boeing to Huffy. The Dogtra transmitter is very nice, feels solid and is definitely a quality product. The Dogtra collars are very robust, and perhaps so robust they would too larger for a small to medium dog. For my spirited Viszla the collar is pretty large but very effective at a setting of 30. If he is being very stubborn I might go up as high as 45, but that REALLY gets his attention. Also, the Dogtra set has great batteries that really last a long time. It's expensive, but it is far superior and a solid investment.

love it
I started using E collars on my Black lab Pit mix a little over a year ago and loved the results. I did use a different brand that after receiving my new Dogtra collars, are not near as sturdy, or made as well...after the old ones transmitter stopped working at 13 months and the manufactuer not helping in any way but to say you need to upgrade to the new model we dont even have parts for the old one anymore.. so i went without and did my research. After getting a second dog a golden yellow lab mix she si a pup just over a year old as a friend to my 4 year old lab pit mix...I now needed a second and all the ohter brands you have to add a second collar and lose a function to get the second collar to work with one remote. then I found Dogtra. Loved that the remote had 2 sets of buttons and full function for both collars to work with one remote.the quality struck me as I opened my package thw nice case they came in and the heavy duty straps. then the devices themselves are really well made heavy and strong which is my only fault is how heavy they are but that is a good and a bad thing....as I use them for only short play sessions with my dogs outside off leash it is not to bad.Over all I would recommend this to anyone and I have told my sister to get this (one dog version) for her red bone coon hound.......

Excellent tool for all types of dogs
I have a Catahoula (8 mths) and a Schnauzer (~5yrs old) and I have found that both respond very well to use of the collar. I mostly use the page function to work on everything from barking at the door to coming when off-leash. I have been able to take the Catahoula to the lake and when she goes exploring for beyond where I can see her it is great to be able to recall her immediately by using the collar and a single voice command.I have recommended this to a number of friends and family members as an excellent way to work with your animals without having to chase them down. The understanding of what you are asking of the animal is almost immediate and does NOT require much stimulation. The device stimulation ranges from 0-150 and I normally operate with vibrate only or nick option in the range of 10-15.I also highly recommend the Leerburg E-Collar training video, although it was a little more than what I wanted to spend on a video. I had read many online posts and youtube videos thinking I had a rough understanding of e-collar use, however the Leerburg provided some great insight and a better understanding of e-collars in general.

Collars are old, worn down and dirty upon arrival.
I didn't even get to use this collar because the one that was sent to me was old, used and very beat up. Corners of the collar attachment are worn down, the collars are scratched up and there is dog hair stuck in the buckles. It is heavily used. For the price, I expected a new product. I feel like I have to send it back because I do not trust that it has much of a life left in it. Can't believe that Amazon sold me something like this.

Undecided.
I've bought five sets of these trainers and by far this is the best built and most reliable. However the red unit does my vibrate as strong as the black and also shocks with less power at the same level. The worse thing about this product is that it is too damn big and compared to the other trainers I've had, they are three times the size. They fit really uncomfortably round the dogs neck.Battery life is about three days for the collar and few weeks for the remote.Lastly, the vibration could be far stronger. If they can change the size of the collar and even up the power output of the two collars id give it a 5star.On a side note, level 127 shock is equivalent to my stun gun. I have three pit bulls. Can't imagine anything over 40. Anything above is animal cruelty and abuse. And at level 40 I got them to stop fighting.

Overpriced
Overpriced but worked ok. Needed a better manual or video. I had to watch some tutorials on you tube on how to use it

2 dog unit good..
Great performance. 2 dog set up is easy to use. Collar unit is much larger and heavier than the single dog unit I had. When ordered I did not realize this was the case. My dogs are not small so I kept it. Much stronger and more distant control. Turned out good for me because I exercise my dogs in wooded areas at considerable distance and their response is good with this model. Just watch closely when odering and be sure the unit size is what you expect. Will buy again.,

A great system for two big stubborn dogs
I've used a tritrinics P3 for a few years and was looking to replace it and needed something different as it was discontinued a few years ago. After poking around a bit and borrowing some other rigs from friends, I settled on the FieldStar and am very happy with after several months of use.Seperate buttons for different dogs make control easy and intuitive. The ability to dial up the juice a bit mid correction is amazing when my critters break after a deer or moose. Of the e collars I have tried, this is my favourite and not by a little bit.One nitpick is with charging. There is no "full charge" indicator. For a higher end product this is a bit disappointing but not a catastrophe. Still hugely recommend this product.
