UPDATE: Screw it in!!! So happy I purchased!
Having a way for my new kitty to see outside was one of the first things I knew I wanted for her. I felt bad having her cooped up in my small apartment all day but didn’t think my window sill was large enough to fit her comfortably. I got one of the cat sills that you attach to the window itself but I would just worry that it was going to fall. Plus, it didn’t really look nice on the window and sometimes I like to close the blinds. I like that this K&H sill attaches to the windowsill itself. And it’s much more aesthetically pleasing than the others. I also loved that I didn’t have to make any holes in the wall or sill- I used the included sticky velvro option. I noticed many reviews that recommend screwing it in and I kind of wish I did that (still might), but my sill is 6” wide (seems to be bigger than standard?) and my girl is about 8 lbs. so it seems very sturdy. She wouldn’t go near it at first. I tried luring her up there with treats and toys but no dice. I was going to get steps to put near it in case getting up there was the problem. Instead, I got a cat tree (by Armarkat) that kind of matches it, which was the perfect solution! She can easily get up there now and the tree also allowed her to notice the outdoor view that was available lol.At first she’d squeeze herself onto the tiny area between the window edge and the kitty sill- like she didn’t quite trust it. During play she’d walk on it but then get right off. So she never even had a chance to experience the heated feature. Then this morning she went up on it and laid down! She has been relaxing on it. It is also snowing (she’s never seen snow before!) which is beautiful. In the pics you can see the kitty tree to the left of the window. As she grows I’ll probably screw in the sill just bc all the other reviews have made me nervous. I also have a little table under it so if she did fall she’d be fine, but still. I will certainly report back if any issues come up.For now, it’s made me very happy to see her enjoying the view!UPDATED 8/6/2018: Kitty still loves it but I still had it attached with the velcro strips and yesterday it fell!!! I wasn’t home when it happened and I was so worried to see it had fallen. Luckily my kitty doesn’t seem hurt.Since so many have had this problem, I really think K&H Pet Products should stop including the strips. It is so dangerous!!! And I find it to be careless of the company. This morning I did what I should have initially and screwed it into the sill. It was super simple. Makes only tiny holes. I was sooo worried my cat wouldn’t want to go up there again after falling but after a few hours she did!

the best kitty window seat I've been able to find
My kitties love window-seats, and I've been looking for replacements for their worn-out "cat napper" hammock-style seats, and also looking for a way to keep them comfortable during the cold months. So far, this is the best seat I've found, though it's not perfect.Pros:* Cats like it, though it's not their #1 favorite bed (it varies from #2 to #4, out of 6ish possibilities)* Firm, doesn't sag with use.* Easily removable/washable cover, soft material.* Gentle warmth is nice through the cold months.* Good size to fit any of my cats (medium-to-small size). It would easily fit two smaller cats.Cons:* Very plastic-y smell. The smell mostly faded after a few weeks, but even 6 months later, I can tell by smell which cat spent the day asleep on this seat.* Highish price* Very little give-- it's on the too-firm side for a bed, not very plush for the older cat.* Must be screwed to the sill for stability, you'll need to provide your own hardware to do this right.* Support legs fall off easily. The biggest overall negative was the smell of the material. The ongoing negative is one of the legs falls off regularly, startling the cat using the bed (and the bed sags a little without the leg support). It is either molded wrong or needs a better retaining mechanism. At some point I'll probably just superglue the leg onto the bed...The "Thermo" part is a small heating element, similar to a miniature (human) heating pad. It sits between two layers of foam, under the outer cover. At 6W, it adds a gentle warmth to the bed without using much power or overheating the cat. Combined with kitty's own body heat, it works well indoors. It would likely be ineffective in an unheated space. The heating element is likely part of the plastic smell. The "heated" is a nice touch that the cats seem to appreciate. I use a small (human) heating pad under another cat-bed for a similar effect, but that would be difficult to do with a window seat, and uses more power.Despite the mixed reviews, this is definitely a good window bed. It can be a little iffy to install, it could be a little softer, it could smell better, and it could be a little cheaper. But for a sturdy, non-frilly, window-level cat-seat, I haven't seen anything else I like better. Recommended.

Cat LOVES it.
The media could not be loaded. I have an elderly grumpy old 12 pound (5.4 kilo) cat who is rarely pleased with anything in life. He positively loves this seat. My initial reaction on opening the box was it felt a bit flimsy and cheap but once it is properly levelled and attached it is actually quite sturdy and works well. It doesn't move even a little bit when he jumps up on it. You will need a fairly wide stretch of window sill equal to the length (15 in or 39cm) and at least an inch and a bit (4cm) to get it set up properly. My sill is 2 inches deep (5cm). I used the enclosed Velcro to attach it and I intend to move the perch and Velcro it to another spot when July weather requires I use that spot for my air conditioner. I was originally going to put in my bedroom but there is a window crank on that window sill which got in the way so I put it on the window behind my desk instead. The warmth the pad puts out is like a very low setting on a heating pad. It appears to suit Kitty just fine. He's sitting on it purring away right now.Update: The velcro attachment to the seat itself failed and the kitty bed fell off. I used some Gorilla glue to fasten it on again. I was very careful to clean the window sill with alcohol before sticking the Velcro on but I did not clean the bed itself with alcohol before sticking the other side. My mistake and easily fixed. I also found sometimes it seems to stop heating. To get it to heat again you simply unplug it and plug it in again. I just make a point of doing that every time I restart my computer. The cat still absolutely loves this perch and it is his number one sleeping place. He used to sneak in with us at night which bothers my husband's allergies. The cat no longer sneaks in. He spends the night on this window seat. Still a five star product for us.

Don't trust velcro adhesive!
I purchased this in October and had no issues until now, May. It seemed sturdy but this morning one of the adhesive strips came off the window ledge while my cat was on it and she hurt her eye as they fell. I am thinking it has to do with the fact I've had my window open all night and it's humid outside and that may have loosened the strip. I suggest screwing the ledge to the window if you have that option--I know I'll be doing that now. If my cat will even use it again :(

Beautiful, Sturdy, Cat Loves It. Not Significantly Warm
This window bed is absolutely wonderful, it looks even nicer than pictured and my cat adores it. We decided to use 2/3 included screws for added stability from the start, and the bed feels very sturdy; no issues with cats jumping from floor to bed, I can place a significant amount of weight on it with my hand and there is no movement. The padding is very plush and the fleece cover soft. We decided to order the heated version as with or without the heating pad the price was the same at that time; I have noticed that the heating pad is intermittently warm, sometimes I have to unplug it and plug it back in for it to begin heating again (not sure if there is a timed shut-off safety feature?). As we were indifferent to the heating function though, and didn't pay any more for it, not a big turn off. Would recommend this bed to anyone able to place the screws for added stability (cannot attest to the stability of the velcro pads)

not the quality I wanted
I do not like this. Under that nice cover on top is a plastic frame that feels so lumpy that I'm sure the cat will not want to sit on it. He's a heavy cat and this just won't hold his weight without making him feel nervous. I cannot attach it permanently so I cannot not use it in the apartment. The double sided tape does not hold and I don't want the paint to peel off the wall so I am not using it. I wish I had not bought it and probably will return it. Not as advertised, too much flimsy plastic.

For the cat who likes to stare out the window...
I bought this for my older adult cat so he could sit and stare out the window. It was easy to set up (I used the adhesive strips and one screw) and it’s been staying put. My windowsill is about 4-5 inches deep. I don’t use the heating pad. At the time it was quite a few dollars cheaper to buy the version with the heating pad over the version without. My cat doesn’t use it all the time, but when he does, he will sit/lay on it for an hour or so.
