Product Description Hanabi, the Japanese word for fireworks, is about putting on the best possible firework show for your audience. The game is played with a deck of cards consisting of numbers 1-5, each of which in 5 different colors. Each player is dealt a hand of 5 cards, but the catch is they may not look at them. Instead, the players hold the cards facing their fellow players. Players must give each other clues and use some good old fashioned deduction to play their cards correctly. Players will need to collectively play their cards in increasing order, and by color. The game ends when either the players have completed all 5 sets, run out of cards in the draw deck, or made three errors during the game. They then total their score and see how close they are to a perfect 25. Set Contains: 60 Playing-cards; 12 marking-pieces; 12 sticker; 1 instruction booklet

Great but in German
It's a great game, and the tin makes it convenient to store or carry. THIS IS THE GERMAN VERSION, my fault for not noticing until I opened it, but looking the English rules online wasn't hard. I think it was worth the metal box.

Pocket version absolutely worth it over the regular version
I will focus this review on the quality of this version of the game rather than the game itself. But just to summarise, it is a 2-4 player coop card game where you and your friends try to launch a successful firework display by playing cards of 5 coloured suits in the correct order 1-5. The trick is that you can't see your own hand, but you can see every else's hands, so you must communicate this to each other with a limited set of legal clues and limited number of clues. The rules are simple and the games are short. It's probably the best portable coop game you can get.Anyway, onto the real review:The tin box is very attractive and of excellent quality and easily fits all the cards and tokens while being surprisingly tiny, maybe 50% wider than a standard pack of playing cards. It opens easily and closes solidly, no fear of it popping open in the bag at all.The game is the German version which differs in design from the English version and is advantageous for colour blind players as each colour suit also has a unique and simple symbol to represent them, like a O, an X, a square etc (you can see them on the side of the tin in the product image).Cards included are the 5 main colours of suits, plus the rainbow colour suit for advanced play. The cards are a nice vinyl type feel, and very pleasant to use. They are good quality, but as with all cards, they are not indestructible, so sleeve them if you want them to last forever (although that may make it difficult to fit them in the tin, just a warning).Tokens included are 9 white clue tokens and 3 purple lightning (life) tokens. Rather than being cardboard pieces, these tokens are thin discs of plastic, about the size of a 1p coin and a hair thinner. They are flat and unmarked on both sides, but included is a sheet of stickers with the clue and lightning graphics which you should stick on one side of each token. I personally think these are nicer than cardboard tokens but your mileage may vary. I suppose they were made that way to save on weight and space, which is exactly what I want in a pocket version. Also included is the instruction manual in German. If you're not a German speaker, then you will need to download and print off a copy of the rules from elsewhere. [...] will have some in various languages. All in all, a very good quality production of an excellent game. It's definitely very portable and will be a hit for many camping trips to come! Even if you don't intend to take it somewhere where it must be as tiny as possible, it's still a very attractive storage version and I personally think the plastic tokens are nicer than the cardboard ones.

Easy but addictive game
The game is really easy to learn and pretty simple to play. The real challenge is to get the perfect score, which make this game so addictive! You cannot speak during it so you have to learn how the other players think in order to make your best move. It's important that you know that the instructions included are only in german, but they are pretty easy to find online: search on Google "hanabi instructions pdf".I attached some photos with a pen on them so you could have an idea of its dimensions. If you liked my review I'd really appreciate if you could press the button below that says "Helpful". Thanks!

A very enjoyable, friendly card game
I love this game which is very simple to play and requires only a couple minute's explanation to new players. It's a kind of multi-player patience where everyone is trying to collectively play cards to the table in a sequence. There are five suits, plus one more for an advanced game, and five cards in each suit with varying multiples. Fireworks are the theme, but this is a totally abstract game.It sounds easy but the twist in Hanabi is that players cannot see their own cards, only the cards of the other players. Each player must hold the cards away from them for the others to see. Players have three options which can be a dilemma for new players used to games where the same thing happens on each turn. Players can either give advice to other players about cards in hand, play a card to the table or discard a card and draw another. One of three lives is lost if players make a mistake like trying to play a card out of sequence. After 3 lives, the game is over and players add up the score to see how well they have done. It's a game of memory and communication, and for the best results it is necessary to concentrate and not be distracted. The pocket version is really neat and very good value. The cards are a normal size, good quality with a linen-like finish, and the clue and life tokens are plastic with stickers to be applied. It all comes in a metal box with a flip lid. The instructions are in German but English rules can be found on the internet. The game itself is 100% language independent (i.e. it does not have any printed words). It works well with 3 or more players, for me it is not so interesting with only 2.Totally recommended for a friendly game of cards, it is one of my favourite card games. For a more advanced game with similar mechanics, check out Beyond Baker Street.

Good quality version of a fun quick game.
This is a nice version of the game. Very portable and compact. Good quality metal container just a bit bigger than a normal pack of cards. Instructions are in German, but easy to find a translation for your desired language online (try boardgamegeek.com). Other versions have cardboard tokens with printing on, but the plastic tokens here are more robust, don't absorb split liquids and certainly serve the purpose. The game is a simple cooperative card game where you try and lay your cards correctly. The snag being that you hold your hand of cards facing outwards and never look at them. You have to work from clues the other players give you and some logical thinking. Good for families, or as a filler.

Perfect for travel, but not compatible with Expansion packs
As a Hanabi fan I got this pocket version for travel - and it's perfect for that. Good clear cards and the plastics counters are great.I've deducted a star as theses cards are not compatible with the Black Powder Expansion packs. The cards are slightly smaller, and have a different reverse design. So if you want to play the expansion, get the standard Hanabi pack.
