I wanted to use analog headphones with this player but when I first used it I noticed that the sound on a number of headphones I own is weak in bass frequencies and very bright with EQ turned off. I am not a heavy bass lover person, but this player's sound is too thin for my liking still. To confirm, I connected the headphone output to a Sound Blaster XG5 Line-In input and measured the frequency response by playing a frequency sweep wav file with the equalizer turned off. The captured output showed a low frequency roll off of -6dB per octave starting at 1 kHz, which means there is an attenuation of 6dB at 500 Hz and 12dB at 250 Hz. The roll off will be worse when driving an actual headphone with a lower impedance than the Line-In of the SB XG5.The player is sleek and well built, with a responsive touch control, great battery life, and a hefty 32GB built in memory that is big enough for all the music I would like to carry around with me without needing to add a micro SD card (even though the player supports it). The menu system is a little inconvenient to navigate, but I can get to the music I want without trouble.I suppose the weak bass problem is would not be there when using a Bluetooth headset, but I have not tried.

My son loves his MP3 player. Her wears is while at appointments or riding his bike. I love how clear is the sound is so he doesnt have to turn the volume way up to hear the words over toddler noise. Great buy for sure.

Nice player for the price. Bluetooth option is a must. Instructions on transferring music files was a bit vague, but easy enough to figure out without too much trouble.

I am pleasantly surprised by the sound quality, but also by the durability of the product. Love that it has a radio too!

For the money you pay I would have to say this item is well worth all of it and a bit more easy to use durable great battery life
