Best soap I have ever used in my 72yr lifetime.
I read an article, probably on Facebook about Aleppo Soap. The recipe has remained unchanged for 2000 years or more. 80% olive oil, 15% laurel oil or extract (varies by which article or ad you are reading) and 5% lye or other ingredients that causes the chemical reaction that turns the oil into soap. There are no other ingredients, no scent, no coloring, nothing. I bought this product a hair over a month ago. I totally agree with all the positive comments that I see here for this product but I have one new comment to add that I haven’t seen other places. As other people have suggested I use this soap as a body cleansing soap, as a shave cream and also as a shampoo. Nowhere have I read what effect, if any, this soap has for people who are plagued by dandruff or dry and itchy skin in the hair, on the face or body so the relief that I received from this life long problem was totally unexpected. I have used H & S ever since I was in junior high school. It never worked. Barbers and hair dressers have told me several times that H & S just makes the problem worse and, of course, they have wanted to sell me the $15-$20 bottle of dandruff control shampoo they have in their shop. None of those has ever worked for me. Almost with the first use of this product my dandruff problem just disappeared. It was unexpected and I was amazed. I can’t guarantee that it will work for everyone the same way but I would say with confidence it is definitely worth a shot. At this point, I don[t ever plan on buying another kind of soap. To be honest, if I ever discontinued use of this soap I think my dandruff problem would return but I am not planning on giving up this product anywhere in the foreseeable future.

A Very Good Soap
Soap makers here... we've been making soap for almost 20 yrs, but still like trying out soaps from other maker's who stick to traditional methods; especially those who stick to Simple Natural Ingredients. This is an excellent soap!, Olive Oil, Laurel Oil, Lye, & Water... nothing else. 'Many soaps that utilise olive oil as its sole fat base (and aren't made well) often render a product that feels 'sticky in a way' after washing with it... this does NOT. It leaves the skin feeling simply clean, Very clean. It has a fresh scent to it that is somewhat undefinable other than 'Clean & Fresh'... resulting from the presence of the Laurel oil. It is not perfumy. It simply reminds the nose of having smelled an undistinguishable freshness in nature, and clean soap. Look around for a good deal. The seller we're leaving this review on is/was the best deal we could find (purchase in lots of 12). The makers of this soap in Turkey do NOT charge much... numerous re-salers, here in the USA, take every opportunity to take every advantage of what they deem as unique. Don't be taken in! It's a good, very good basic soap that does its job and does it very well, and... it does NOT cost a lot to make. We've purchased twice... it's now a part of our household soap stock. We highly recommend this soap, and this supplier.

Decent, but not entirely converted
This soap is really good. It lathers up even in hard water like I have here. Has a very mild scent, and seems to be a pretty decent soap. However, this is not exactly what I was looking for. I thought the fragrance would be a lot stronger.

Supplier: Would you disclose the amount of laurel oil, please?
I would deduct 1 star for not verifying the percent of laurel oil or olive oil but it's such a delightful soap that works beautifully. No scent, that I notice, can't smell the olive oil or the laurel oil, very neutral. It's creamy rather than lathery. Makes my skin so soft and never taut. Used it on my face and my skin look refined, less pores, the small blemish marks have reversed to almost nothing. Amazing. I do have good skin with minor marks so if your skin is bad it will take time to heal.I had heat rash (in a heat wave) and this eased the symptoms immediately after the first shower.I didn't have to use olive oil on my wet skin after the shower like I always had to do.I LOVE this soap. Love no scent. Love the gentleness. Love the moisture it gives after a shower.I apply liberally after wetting my skin, then it easily rinses away, no scum left on my skin, rinses clean.4 ingredients: Olive oil, laurel oil, water and NaOH (all soaps contain this to make it soap). Will buy again and give as gifts. I love the handcrafted look, just a cut square wrapped in clear plastic wrap with a label.

I love this soap!
I'm an NPR--National Public Radio--nerd, and heard a feature on the traditional soapmakers of Aleppo, their difficulties with the war in Syria, and that some other areas were taking on this traditional art. I watched a couple of videos on the making of the soap and really wanted to try it. Everything I found on Amazon at that time was extremely expensive, so I ordered another olive oil based soap traditionally made in Palestine. It was okay, but more than I wanted to spend for something we'd use daily. Then I found this package--12 bars of this traditional olive oil with laurel soap for $38! Bought it in September and have been using it ever since, and we've only gone through 2 or 3 bars, plus a couple I've given to friends to try.Fabulous, hydrated feeling after use. Love the laurel scent and the fact that it is a natural product made in an ancient tradition. It's probably too late this season, but I'd love to give this (wrapped nicely) as a simple holiday gift to any and everyone I know!

Loving it so far.
If you guys are curious on how it was packaged, it just came through in a white postal package with the bag inside folded. I can smell it through the bag it was contained in. Smells great and it gets the job done. Only concern was that it was covered with tiny bits of hair on the soap itself.
