Clairol Professional Shimmer Lights Shampoo Blonde & Silver 16 Fl Oz

I am blonde and I love it! My hair is naturally a medium blonde, but I have been getting my hair professionally done in a salon for as long as I can remember to make my hair as blonde as possible. While I don't have all bleached like I used to, it's still almost as blonde as you can get. I am so sick of looking for the perfect shampoo for me.I want my hair BLONDE. I don't want it gold, I don't want it to look brassy, I want it blonde, blonde, blonde!I have tried so many shampoos, from really expensive to really cheap. An example is a bottle of Pureology shampoo that I bought for about $80 (it was a super big bottle). That is rather pricey. It made my hair look brassy, had a smell my boyfriend hated, and I didn't feel like it was nourishing my hair at all. One day when I ran out I tried my boyfriend's cheap-o Head & Shoulders Shampoo/Conditioner combo, and it gave me more shine and less brass than that ridiculously expensive shampoo. What???While it's generally true that salon shampoos are better for your hair because they don't contain as much wax as the cheap ones (so says my hair colorist), that still doesn't mean an expensive brand is going to make your hair look any better than a cheap brand. And while I care about the health of my hair, I care equally, if not more, about the looks of it.With the good reviews of this product and the very decent price, I thought, "Why not?" Let's just say that it was a great decision!The color is a little shocking at first. It is a very deep purple - was not expecting that! It also has a very strong smell, kind of like you have been in a salon all day. I saw a very noticeable difference after I blow-dried compared to my last shampoo. My hair was soft, felt healthy, and it was NOT brassy. It brought some of the blondeness back to my hair and I loved it.Sometimes I can't get to the salon every 2 months to get my hair done. Sometimes my hair colorist is out of time, sometimes I'm lazy, and sometimes I am just too busy. I have been looking for the perfect shampoo that can keep my hair still looking shiny and fresh even if I'm a little late for my next treatment. And this is definitely it! Highly recommend if you're looking for a strong, shimmery shampoo that will help take out the brass and put the blonde back into your hair.UPDATE: Make sure that you get ALL of the shampoo out of your hair. I have really thick hair, and typically take a bath for this reason. If you can't get it all out, parts of your hair may look a little purplish-blue, especially the super blonde parts. It also turns my blondest hair a little silver, which is odd.

For reference, I’m naturally a lighter/medium brunette and recently got a balayage. Going from brown to blonde is always tough for me because I have natural red tones in my hair, so it was looking pretty brassy/golden after getting it died. I lathered this in my dry hair twice as a mask (each time left it on about 20-30 minutes) and it worked wonders!! I really noticed a difference and so did my boyfriend (that’s when you know). It also left my hair super soft and the smell wasn’t irritating at all, which I was afraid of from other reviews. Highly recommend this shampoo for taking the brassy tones out of lightened hair!

We are on well water, and even though we have a water softener we still get rust in the water. The water has always turned my blond hair orange. Using this, in combination with the purple conditioner (I'd mix the Clairol Shimmering Lights Conditioner in the palm of my hand with another brand of conditioner that was thicker), it kept my blond hair from turning color with the well water. Recently I bought the Aquasana AQ-4105 Showerhead Filter System here on Amazon. This is FAR BETTER than the shampoo as I can use whatever brand shampoo and conditioner I want (the shimmering lights was drying out my color treated hair) and my hair doesn't turn orange. I highly recommend switching to the showerhead filter system if you're on well water instead of using this shampoo. But, if you can't...at least this shampoo will keep your hair blond without it turning color. I've used this shampoo for YEARS and have never had my hair turn purple. I think if you have white hair (naturally gray) you might run into the purple issue if you use it too often as this happened to my dad.

When I began going platinum a few months back, my stylist recommended that I buy a purple toning shampoo to keep my blonde white and to get rid of the brassiness that would ultimately happen between coloring. I went on a hunt to find the best reviewed purple shampoo and was the most inexpensive. I found the Clairol Professional Shimmer Lights Shampoo. I really like this shampoo. I have been using it for several months now, and it really does its job. At first, I was only using it one time in the shower, and I wasn't noticing any results. I finally read the directions, and you should really use it two times. When I'm in the shower, I lather it on my head and then rinse out. I then lather it on a second time, and leave it on my hair for 5 minutes. I try to do other things while I'm waiting like shave my legs, wash my body, etc, since it's hard to leave it on for the full 5 minutes. I then rinse it out and apply conditioner. If you don't use conditioner with this product, your hair will feel very dry, since it is toning your hair. Every time I use this shampoo, my hair goes back to my platinum white and I have no brassiness. It's wonderful! I only use this every other shampoo which is about 1-2 times/week. Any more than that will dry out your hair. I gave this shampoo 4 stars instead of 5 because of the smell. That is the only con to using it. It really isn't pleasant, and it smells like an old lady would use this. If they could make this product smell better, it would be the best out there for the price with the 2 pack!

I have been using expensive salon purple shampoos with little visible results. This stuff almost works too well :-) but that's great because now I don't have to use it everyday. I used every wash for 2 weeks and the ends started to have a purple hue so I use it every other time now and it's remaining a lovely silvery blonde. For how cheap this was I am really impressed. It makes my hair very soft too. The ONLY downside is the smell. It reminds me of my grandmothers perfumes. It also was a mess in the shipping plastic.
