I used to use the cheaper 140 lb cold press paper, since switching to arches the older paper is used for practice or bookmarks. Pictures actually look better with the best paper…worth the extra cost.

I use a lot of water on some paintings and this paper can handle it with very minimal buckling that doesn't interfere with how the paint lies down; when the paper dries, it lies perfectly flat again. It can also take a lot of lifting with a scrubber brush. Some of my paintings should look like the most overworked watercolor paintings ever but somehow turned our really well.

Obtained this for watercolor and graphite art work. Watercolor did beautifully on it. Surface a bit rougher than ideal for some graphite work, depended on the desired texture, but still held it well.

I almost returned this paper block, but then watched a video by Emma Jane Lefavre (watercolor artist-she's excellent) who talked about watercolor block paper, and how to open the block up. When you take the green cover off of the package, the "page" underneath it is black. but look at the middle of the top edge of the block, you will see a white section. If you put a knife underneath the top sheet to take it off the block, you'll find the white paper.

I had a hard time getting the sheets off and I bought a size too big for the work. But the paper was excellent quality and perfect for the class. It got easier as I went on to get the paper off the block. The texture was perfect for the work we did.

I found it cheaper through an artist supply store. This is overpriced by this seller.
