Hogue Mossberg 500 12 Gauge OverMolded Stock with Forend - Flat Dark Earth

Like it. Installed on a 500 Cruiser. Bought sand color for two-tone appearance, functions well in addition to looking cool. Makes the 500 easier to control than with pistol grip. Put the stock against your waist or mount the 500 on your shoulder. Adds about a foot to overall length of the 500.

Looks so much better than ugly corn cob forend. Use flat choke tube wrench to get forearm nut off and on. Also use just the flat washer provided with stock or the stock bolt treads won't go into the reciever far enough for strong mount. Hardest part was getting reciever back together after getting forearm changed out.

Good fit, easy installation. VERY lightweight stock for a 12 gauge - going to kick like a mule. Color is a bit bright but nothing that can’t be toned down with rattle-can cami. Overall a good low budget replacement.

I had an older Mossberg 500A and this was a great upgrade to bring the old shotgun to life!

I am frustrated to say that this is the most underwhelming and disappointing Hogue product I own. I have been a huge fan of their products for years, but I feel they really dropped the ball on this product. I love the forend and no complaints about it. I am very unhappy with the stock however. The rubberized grip is only applied to the wrist/pistol grip area (I expected the entire thing to be covered), the tube within the stock that retains the main mounting bolt is VERY flimsy and unsupported, the hardware that retains the recoil pad is cheap and seems makeshift for the application (they're like drywall screws?), and it took several attempts to fit/adjust the stock to my gun. The factory Mossberg buttstock was built much better, and I'm hanging onto it in case this one fails. It makes me very upset that they were so close to having a perfect product, but instead cut corners and left me with something I have limited trust in. I've never hand a problem or complaint with their rifle stocks, AR grips, or pistol grips and I wish the buttstock of this kit was built to the same standard.

I did some research and evidently some Mossberg 500s require an extension nut because the forend was too long. Why am I finding this out now? Why was it not included in the kit. Now I'm upset that I have to order this forend extension nut. But I'm also upset that I have to wait longer to do this job because Hogue didn't bother to add the needed hardware.
