Heady one
This contains insightful writings on life, times and personality of Akbar. It examines practically every aspect of life and times ranging from personality to far and, science and superstitions to coinage, from attitude towards co religionists to ideas of justice and non doctrinaire approach to Sharia and miniatures and calligraphy. It is a brilliant text, easy to read despite being full of minutest researched details. Do not hurry through. Enjoy the treat- a heady one.

Informative: yes, enjoyable: NO!
The book turned out to be too dry for my taste. I know that History books are supposed to be dry, but the rather excessively Marxist approach deployed by the author seems to have succeeded in bleaching away all colours from the narrative, and has given it look of buildings of Soviet-era.
