Excellent ceramic heater.
I purchased this ceramic heater bulb for raising peachicks that I hatched out this summer. A light bulb in a heat deflecting lamp wasn't doing the job. You can't have your birds on light all day. That messes with their circadian rhythm. I had the 100 w bulb. It gets very hot and will melts plastic. I had mine in a holder with a clamp but because I didn't want predators into my hatchery and I didn't want my little birds to fly out I placed several window screens across the top of an 80 gal horse water trough I was using. The lamp can sit right on to the screen no problem. The 80 gal Rubbermaid trough never over heated, no one got burned. I recently used it on a sick cat. Always use a thermometer in the cage and always provide a heat gradient for any animal whether it be reptile, bird on mammal. Good product.Next I would like to try this outside. I have peacocks, peahens, ducks and chickens. It gets pretty cold here and I am trying to come up with a safe way to hook these up in their cages or roost areas. Sandy Garrett, DVM

Our Beardie LOVES his "night light"
Although it does not emit ANY light, we still call it his "night light". I'll preface with this....Our bearded dragon, Frank, is absolutely spoiled rotten! He has a chaise lounge (also purchased on Amazon), with a blanket. Every night, he gets "tucked in to his bed" and covered with a baby blanket. After we tuck him in for the night, we cut off his day time lights and turn on this heat emitting light to keep his Viv nice and warm. In the summer, he does fine with 100 watts, but in the winter, we increase it to 150 watts. Last night it was in the 20's outside, and our indoor heat was 68 degrees. This morning, Frank's Viv was 84.5 degrees. This was the perfect, night time temperature. Previously, the 100 watt was only bringing his Viv to 72 degrees on a really cold night.

Light doesn't stay on
I purchased this heat lamp since my old one blew, it heats up very quickly but doesn't stay on. I thought that maybe it was my new dome light, so I switched & used my daytime dome & nope, the light doesn't stay on for some reason. Not a good purchase on my behalf.

It may be a fluke, but...UPDATED!
UPDATE: The company graciously sent me a new bulb that so far works perfectly! I am very pleased with their response and have made good on my purchase.I hate to give poor reviews and it may be a fluke but this heat bulb didn’t last for even 3 weeks. I know I could send it back, but I don’t want to be labeled as an amazon abuser.

Great for Dubia Roaches.
I’m using this light as a second heat source for my Dubia Roaches. They are in the garage and it is too cold for them with just the heater. This came in fine but my 7 year old broke it by dropping it on the floor. Still working even though the ceramic is broken.
