It works better than expected. You should buy it.
I switched to the Blue Works Salt Cell from a Baquacil system because of recurrent issues with pink mold and yellow mold. The Blue Works cell is really easy to install (I did it myself in about an hour) and the horrific yellow mold issue that we opened to in June was resolved overnight to sparkling, gin clear water. It has remained that way ever since. My wife had developed sensitivity to the pool previously and we didn't know if it was the Baquacil or the or residual algae but now her skin is fine. We really like the feel of the salt water and even the dog's fur is much softer. And the overall clarity is unbelievable. All of our guests comment on it.After about 6 weeks I did have an issue with an error message on the controller and contacted Blue Works customer support for help. They were outstanding and helpful and remained in daily contact to resolve it. Ultimately it was escalated to a technician, Dave, and he called to trouble shoot. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. It was eventually resolved and I think the issue was not with the cell but with a dirty paper cartridge filter upstream of the cell install that was restricting water flow when the solar heater cycled. I think the cell should probably be upstream of the heater. Nonetheless, Dave had several suggestions about how to fix it and even offered to send the parts needed to move the cell. His efforts to resolve the problem were exceptional as were Diana's, the customer support contact. I can say that Blue Works was very concerned that there was a problem and they worked diligently to resolve it. They really stand behind their products. I just wish I had done this years ago rather than battling pink mold every August. And I love that I don't have to do almost nothing with pool chemicals anymore. Even vacuuming is significantly less. If you want sparkling clean pool water buy this system.

Customer Support is Terrible
Installation was fine but it never worked. I had all my chemicals balanced and ready to go but it never registered any salt being in my pool (yes I had exact amount in there) therefore never making chlorine. When you call Blueworks you get a person that says they will convey your message to the tech person and get back to you. ( You NEVER get to talk to a tech person...its one giant game of telephone) Ugh. So we went back and forth over DAYS that turned into weeks without ever getting an answer. ( They sent out things like " our tech wants you to change volt to 15" than I'd have to send back it was ALWAYS on 15. Or "send us your chemical report"( got that twice) it never went anywhere or solved the issue. Super frustrating !!! Now I have salt in my pool with chlorine tabs floating around so we can at least use the pool this summer... until I can figure out another brand to use.

Great product, great customer service
Our pool is 41,000 gallons and we keep the temperature at 85 degrees. The Blue Works BLSC unit was easy to install and has been taking good care of the pool for about a year now. At first there was concern about the cost but the price of chlorine has gone up so high that the unit pays for itself in just a little over a year. The real benefit is that it takes care of the pool without our having to constantly deal with chemistry and harsh chemicals. Just a couple of times per year remove the cell and acid wash the elements to remove calcium deposits. The "menu" button on the control panel is easy to use and gives good information about the water. Also, we like the salt water as it feels good on our skin. I should note that I contacted customer service with a question. They responded within a day and were very helpful.

Works Great BUT !
I am writing this review @ one year after I installed this item in my church pool (May of 2020) It worked great for the first year. This year the cell went bad after a month of opening the pool. I maintain two pools, my personal pool and a pool at my church. There is a 3 year warranty on the Blue Works unit. Long story short it took 3 months to get the new replacement cell. I had no choice but to buy a new one to keep the pool running for the 3 months until they honored the warranty. When closing the pools I am careful to remove the cells and other pipping so the cold does not damage them. Like any item that we buy, it is only as good as the service that we get when it breaks. Then system is easy to use and works great (when it does).

So far so good
Had one with a purchase of a pool from island rec …. That lasted only 2 years. Hoping this lasts longer!!! It does make your pool virtually maintenance free … I vacuum maybe 2, 3 times a year. Salt stays in the pool, so this is virtually my only cost, have to add a bag or 2 in the spring, very cheap. Pool is always crystal clear. Easy to understand display unit. I add no other chem’s.

So far so good - Some advice on what to expect a year later
I bought this in Aug 2020 and installed it shortly thereafter because my Hayward control board was mis-reading the salt level and stated I had much more salt than I actually had (4-5000ppm when it was more on the order of 3000ppm). Since the Hayward board and controls all worked otherwise, I decided to buy just a separate chlorinator. I used a phone splitter for the flow switch (goes to the Blue Works chlorinator and the Hayward control) because the Hayward needs to see flow too or the pump will turn off. What I found is that depending on the cell you may currently have and the cell that comes with the unit, you may have to use either the + or -45 setting. You can call tech support or just try changing the polarity to see if it works. I set the chlorinator to 90% versus MAX because at the MAX setting, the plates were building up a lot of calcium and the salt readings would drop to under 2000ppm and it the chlorinator would stop. The other thing I suggest is rotating cells every couple weeks during the summer if you have a backup cell. The cell I pull off, I either soak it with vinegar on a stand for a day or I just use a hose and nozzle to shoot water through the plates to get the calcium out. Meanwhile the clean cell is working away. I add very little shock to the pool every week, so the chlorinator is working well.
